You'll need the update DVD road map Europe Professional 2011 its a 3 DVD box set you'll only use DVD 1 for the UK and Ireland... part number 65 90 2 181 480...I'm not sure of the price as it came in my car but I'd imagine its dealer only

Its a timely question. I assume you are after the single DVD disc that goes straight in the dash slot - and not the discs needed to do an HDD update (which I think needs some bespoke dealer interface machine)?

I'm currently still using a "2009 Sergei speed cam special" disc - but could probably do with an update.

Any links?

Does idrive need updating before you use the single DVD sat nav. I've been told that a second or third disc is included and one of these is used to update the software before you use the sat nav DVD itself.

I think you are getting mixed up with the discs to update the HDD version of i-drive.

I had to upgrade the software on my zed to v32, but on my e92 just put the latest disk in.

The rusty midget chap is very helpful so could always email him before you buy.

HI guys, newbie here, just finding my way around my e92 330d 2009 Highline Msport.

I have the professional nav and i drive in my dash and running the software version shows the following.

ece
bmw
1.2.4
road map europe premium 2008-2

I take it that this is now out of date? if so what do I need to do to get it up to the most recent version. I have the HDD version of the NAV.

Thanks in advance.

You have 2 options:

1. Pay a BMW dealer lots of money to upgrade the maps
2. Buy a Garmin/TomTom for half the money of the above, and get a much better (if a little smaller and more sticky-outy) Nav.

There was another thread on this a while back. I think the discs work out at £160 or so + labour. You can install yourself but that won't give you any software updates such as 7 digit post code search.

If you get it done during a Service, you may be able to reduce the cost as much of the time is spent waiting for the new maps to load - which can be happening while other service tasks are taking place. From what I cam make out, BMW dealers seldom do updates - probably because of the cost!

Yes just called BMW Harry fairbairn in Glasgow they want £200 plus £100 labour plus £vat! They have to apply for a code from BMW and load etc.

Total rip off. I was advised to wait a year as the maps they have at present don't contain some fairly major road developments in our local area.

Very poor show.

As you say a poor show and why I'm happy to pay £30 for a 'hookey' disc off the internet for our 130i with earlier i-drive.

It does pee me off soooo much - one of the 'bad' things about BMW that could put me off buying another. I understand that if you have a Merc your sat nave is updated 'for free' at Service time.

I have just sent in a comment on this silly cost via the BMW web site

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/about/cse...0207__,00.html

Will probably mace no difference what so ever - but at least i got it off my chest.

I just did the same, can anyone feeling similarly motivated do likewise please it really isn't on. I know it will make no difference but if we just sit and take it or ignore the fact that the maps are outdated then they get away with it.
