My second insurance claim in less than a year
So this morning while driving to work on the QEW, a car ahead of me drove over some tire debris, kicking it up where to flew into my driver's side headlight assembly. My headlight lens is destroyed, the turn indicator is dead, the headlight still works but without the lens is useless and i have scratches and dents below the headlight and on the hood of the car.
Called BMW to find out how much to fix, and was told that the assembly it's self was over 600 bucks before labour. So forced to make another comprehensive claim. Was a little annoyed this morning, but it really could have been much worse so i shouldn't be too pissed. It's just a shame that the truck driver who lost the tire won't have any repercussions from this. Seriously with the amount of retread debris on the road we should be cracking down on the trucks and their cheap retread jobs they do on their tires. |

Sorry to hear that... I see a lot of debris on all major highways.
As AP2 mentioned, you might have to suck it up. Look around for a used assembly, or buy it in the US and get it shipped to Toronto or to usaddressinc.com and pick it up. Getting anything done a dealer is very expensive, try some of the local shops. |

I had a similar scare early this week, was driving on the 427and an SUV in front of me kicked up a huge piece of torn tire my way, it went airborne, and landed just shorty of my car and I ran over it, I could hear it knocking the underbelly of my car...I was scared it fucked something up. But luckily all seems well. Scared the crap out of me, and I could not get out of its way.
