it about sums everything up.
please note the mpg for the new engine is expected to be 10% better then the current 3.5... and this doesnt = anything major... so it will still suck. the engine is an improvement on the current 3.5 and the current 3.5 was great (performance wise) handling w/ the LSD will make it out handle the 335i (not helping the 335i are the runflats) nissan should have made Direct injection on this 3.7 and it would have provided the HP and MPG to beat the current 335i.... they dropped the ball the interior is IMO better then the 335i... excluding the leather quality. leather in the BMW is top notch. fit and finish for both... cant comment. watered down looks ... this was a major factor in my seperation from infiniti and the G series. again they dropped the ball... if they want to be a lexus follower then follow... they struck me as "wanting" to lead the pack with the original g35... not so any more ![]() ppp

Very Nice... Should be a wonderful Car. The VQ Motors have always been a favorite of mine. I wouldn't touch a new one, as Infiniti's residual values have always been pretty horrible, but a pre-owned in a couple of years is bound to be a wonderful performance bargain.

the infiniti resale value is #2... just under bmw... for the coupe... my car has depreciated from 40k to 30k = 10k in 3 years... 10k is nothing close to horrible.

I have a 2004 G35 6MT, and I'm UPGRADING to a 335i. The fit and finish on a G35/G37 will never be as polished as a BMW. I wouldn't even be concerned about the "330hp" that the new 3.7 liter engine is going to be putting out because the 335 is underrated anyway. The only thing I like about the new G37 is the 7500rpm redline. It's 1k higher than the G35, and that makes for some fun driving.

I don't think the new G37 will be faster than the 335, even with LSD.

I came close to buying a new G35 sedan (actually had one on order), so I spent a bunch of time inside the car. The G37 coupe interior looks very similar to the G35 in pics, so I will go out on a limb and say it also feels similar. Many people (especially on the Infiniti boards) greatly prefer the G interior to the E9x's. I do understand this is all personal taste, but I will say that the QUALITY of every button/knob on the BMW just feels BETTER. Take the temperature controls, and the "solidness" of each click as an example. I did not get that same feeling from the G. Don't get me wrong, the G felt good. I just think the BMW feels GREAT. I also think some people beat up the E9x interior simply because it is SIMPLE. Especially with iDrive, there are few buttons, and some folks lots of visible bells/whistles. I used to when I was younger. So that is personal choice, but my guess is the BMW engineers went to great lengths to simplify the cockpit, and given that simplicity was their goal, I have to give them an A in relation to accomplishing it. i.e., this is very good engineering, given the goal. I just think some folks like a different approach, which is fine, must a matter of taste. But it's not a QUALITY issue, it's a design issue. the G has that wrap-around feeling, with curved connections between door and dash, for example. I must admit it looks really cool, but it took my fiancé to point out to me that when the designers do that, they throw away interior space (they are essentially "filling in" the joint). She said she feels more cramped in the G (which is also narrower, by the way), and feels the E9x is more roomy and airy. I have owned several Infiniti's and several BMW's, and I have always thought BMW leather is superior.

I still dont like the interior. Its a very good car but doe not fell like a BMW that is why I prefer the bmw. The car is better than all of the other cars in the class IMO. Very good car but not a great car.

The one thing I like about Bimmer coupes is that they are still relatively normal in height (they're a bit lower than the E90 sedans). This makes them such great all around drivers for people who are taller than your average bear.....
Where as the G-35 coupe just seems so low and tight. The G doesn't seem to be setup well for taller drivers (or any Nissan for that matter). |

I've always viewed cars between manufacturers in pairs. Ford and Mercury....and now Lexus and Infiniti. The latter of the two being the cheaper version. Even with this new design I still dislike Infiniti's. They're a fallback and cheaper solution to the better lexus and bmw cars.
I'm not impressed with the exterior or the interior. Leather quality and finish has never been that great in the Infiniti...in my opinion. The engine sounds like it might be worth more than the car itself. Even so...to me it is still an infiniti - a cheap response to pretty stiff competition by Lexus and BMW. |

me: ouch (as I cracked my head on the sunroof trim) gf: "what's with the clock?" ...and it went downhill from there. I don't know if it had an LSD, but it cornered for crap. I disliked the traction control almost immediately, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Maybe it was a user eduction issue, but when it sucks that bad why even bother having it on by default? it felt like a dead-man switch: wheels spin, kill the engine... wheels spin, kill the engine... it was horrible. When I drove the 335, I took a corner really hard just to compare to the G35... I accelerated right though but the DSC light started blinking. that basically sold me. maybe I'll try one of the new ones this summer just for grins. I'm curious about what they fixed. edit: ![]() ![]() |

I don't understand what the deal is with making an "all new" car look almost identical to the old one...

pfft. this car is a joke right? please... someone... tell me this is a joke! dont even bother to compare this to an E9*. THIS is a great anology my sister told me:
its like comparing a fake LV bag to a real one. if you cant get the real thing, you just feel embarrassed wearing the fake. simple. easy. and true, but all of it just IMHO! dont u dare bother to flame me lol

Thought I was on the wrong forum for a minute, this thread is about the G37! There's no question Infiniti is a good car, always big on value, may even possibly outperform on paper. But once a course is setup at a racetrack, the Infiniti can't hang. Blame it on weight distribution, lack of vibration dampening or refinement, doesn't instill confidence at the limits, whatever. BMW proved this during the Ultimate Drive in late 2k5 when the E90 330i was new and it toasted the G35's and A4 3.2Q's that they brought along.
The Infiniti is worth it to many because it's large on value. But the 3 still outsells the entire Infiniti car lineup. Infiniti sold 9,945 cars last month. There were over 13k 3 Series sold in the same timeframe. Go figure. |

G3x has always been a great bargain. The review said a lot of good stuff but no concrete test drive and figures to back up its conclusions.

On many occasions, I've sat inside the new G37 (I work on Infiniti's ads...shhh) and of course the dash looks just like the sedan's...but imo, it looks cheap. Tons of toys tho.
And in-the-metal, it looks too organic. Like someone took too much sandpapre to it. The more digital looks (chopped of rear) of the current model are better. And, this new G wheels don't fill the wheel wells...or it looks like it needs a drop. The looker at Nissan NA is the altima coupe...save for the wheels, it looks incredible, better actually than the G. In a couple of months, you will see my point. ![]() |
