metallic sound

On cold starts I get a loud metallic raspy sound. Goes away during any revving or once the motor heats up...any ideas? Sounds like something rattling in the piping?

Is the sounds coming from the front or rear of your car? I had the same problem and it turned out to be the butterfly valve in the muffler.

^that could be it...heard some people had these problems. It sounds like it's coming from a little past mid section of car. Hard to tell exactly where it's coming from.

Check your clearance between the DP's.

I had a clearance issue with my AE exhaust and the supporting bracket that sits underneath it. It would occasionally vibrate on cold starts. I would put the car up, let it sit overnight and crank it in the morning. You'll sort it out really quickly.

I was referring to since I went ***less dps I could hear the already existing problem. I also have my butterfly valve always open so that could be it. Not trying to say I'm unhappy with the raceland pipes.

I will probably go a different dp route when funds allow, but wedding costs priorities took car funds out the door at the moment

The tide kicked our a$$, and LSU...not looking good for auburn either seeing we're on our 3rd string qb...anyways, back to garage talk. I pull for all the SEC teams when we're not playing them. I went to UF...not just a fanboy. Thanks again for all the help...I'll do a follow up soon.

This is normal ,it's the secondary pump activating for cold starts and warming up the the cats up .The sound is more pronounced due to the catless downpipes,it normal don't worry car is fine!

Here's another option to check out. Visually inspect the bolt and the W shaped clamp that holds the exhaust in place. It's located just after the downpipes on the passanger side of the car. My bolt loosened up over time and was rattling very bad (metallic sound) on cold starts.

If you had wastegate issues, you would hear it on accel and deccel .... not just idle.
