Got email from my home dealership in US -- how did they know?

I got an email from them (I didn't read it in full yet on my BB) --- that my 328xi needs brake fluid and microfilter replacement. This dealership is in OH where I had purchased my car back in April.

What mechanism within the car transfers the info to them?

Also two questions:

a. Will Towne BMW do this under the free US maintenance plan?
b. Does Towne BMW do tire mounts and installs? I'm buying new Conti DWS tires this week and need to have them installed. I might have both these things done together as well and save myself driving around in Buffalo.

Thanks.

To answer part of my question --- the service info is sent to the dealership thru BMW Assist.

In the same situation as you. I have a US BMW in Canada. Went to Towne when my service lights were on. Got my brake fluids replaced and microfilter replaced without any hassles. Not sure about tires, give them a quick call, they were pretty good about answering questions.

a)Yes, Towne BMW will do the services for free.
b) They probably do but here is a site of other tire installers in the buffalo area

Thanks guys.

I'm getting the install and balancing done at the Goodyear store right around the corner from Towne.

I've also booked myself into Towne for Saturday.

I'll give them a call during the week to confirm some of this stuff --- my warranty ends in December end, i need some checkups done. Look at the list here at all that people recommend should be checked out before warranty runs out:
