Oil Cooler
I am doing a oil cooler retrofit. I have all the parts minus a few fittings.
I ended up going with the Setrab 625. I plan on mounting it in front of the radiator, right behind the grills. Will there be any issue with mounting with the fittings facing up as opposed to them facing down like on AR Design's kit? Thanks in advance for the help. |

I plan on doing a DYI when I do it. My Stett Block off plate might be in for a surprise.

Now back to the info I am looking for, can anyone tell me if having the fittings facing up will negatively affect the flow? |

Thanks for the help. What kind of difference did you find in your testing? Where do you have it mounted at now and how? When I was doing my senior design project my group worked on the cooling system for the Chevy Volt. We had radiators placed in front of other radiators and while it did reduce the efficiency of them it wasn't enough to worry about. If you have numbers by all means share them. Right now mounting it in front of the radiator for me will serve it's purpose while allowing for a clean install. |

One of the racing teams mounted it in front of the fmic. I forgot which one. Pretty sure they claimed it didn't make much of a negative difference. Looked pretty cool too

Every racing team I have seen has always mounted either single or dual cores in parallel in the wheel wells..I cant imagine a racing team would want to throw 260 degree oil heat into an intercooler..when making power is their main goal. |

If you are running dual why would you run them in parallel as opposed to in series? While Delta T across both will be different the Delta T for the system should be greater when run in series and not parallel.

Update
So today I got the car torn apart and saw something I wasn't too happy about. I realized I would have to hack up the front end up to get to cooler to fit in front of the radiator. Since that is not going to happen some of you will be happy knowing it will be going in the wheel well. I got some aluminum angle stock tonight and will be mounting it tomorrow. Pics to follow.

Member Boom made a thread not too long ago about a DIY oil cooler.
Edit- I'll be nice this time and give the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=oil+cooler |
