Thumbs down V Power Diesel - Not Impressed

I know this premium fuel topic has been done to death - but this is my experience of V Power diesel...

So I filled up last night in my 330d LCI - had well under 1/2 a left left so filled up to the brim with £50 of V power diesel. This is the first time I've ever used V Power diesel and fancied giving it a go.
Verdict - so far not impressed to be honest. Feels much like ordinary diesel to me.

Now I should point out I've always run this car and my old 330d on BP Ultimate diesel and I'm impressed with this fuel. Certainly makes a difference and does pull better. But in comparision the V power is not as good. This is as pity as the V Power is about 5p a litre cheaper than the Ultimate where I live

Dont think I'll be putting V Power in again.

I fill up with Vpower now and then just to give something extra nice in the car.

The last time I had a petrol car I actually found V power petrol was better than Ultimate! Probably because V Power's octane is higher.

Diesel is diesel and it's not as important as good petrol.

The premium diesel is worth paying more for.

I found in the old 320Cd that V-Power made the engine smoother and quieter. Got about 2-3 mpg increase too. Didn't notice any extra power, if any.

Try google. AFAIK V power diesel is a gas to liquid fuel and has a lower energy content and cetane rating than ordinary diesel. Or I could be wrong, but I can#t be bothered to look it up.

I ran BP ultimate for a long while before switching to V-Powah!!

Both better than standard Denzil!

The two things may be unconnected but I ran V Power diesel exclusively since picking up my car and then developed a stutter at low revs on pick up. Quite by chance I put some regular Texaco in and it went away.

Premium Denzil is worth it. 4 years ago I ran standard juice and car felt flat, flat as a pancake. After a couple of tankfulls of premium it was spritely again.

On my 330d LCI I have used BP Ultimate diesel 95% of the time I've had it ... the other 5% of the time it's had normal diesel when I've been on holiday in Norfolk ...

I can't say I noticed anything other than it was noticeably quieter when running on the BP ultimate stuff.

No mpg difference or extra power on ultimate - but definitely quieter

I'll keep using it for the extra cleaning agents as I drive a lot of shortish journeys in town ...

usually run normal shell with millers, every so often will use v power if i have no millers left.

Had to use tesco's own the other week and had no millers, car felt terrible, rattling, especially when cold and produced more knock. filled up with v power and the car is smooth once again and rattle gone.

I definitely notice a difference. Strangely the car doesnt seem to like BP ultimate either.

I also use Forte treatment every 5-10K to clean out injectors, egr etc

I can't believe you people have expensive BMWs and just put normal diesel in.

I've only ever use V-Power derivatives...petrol or diesel. The M3 always ran on optimax then and now the D on v-power. Can I tell a difference? Not really as always used them and no complaints. The RRS ran on regular diesel till it was mapped and then onto v-power.

I'm not having a pop at Falkens - If you'd read some of the other threads on the subject (some of which have now been removed) and took Will's comment into account, you'd get my comment

I run Vreds on the M3 - many would consider that to be a 'budget' tyre, but they suit me just fine
