Circular Polarizer Filters
I am looking to pick up a CP filter but dont really know what one to get. I know B+W is high end, and Hoya is a pretty good brand.
My question is, what type of CP filter do i get? Also, what are some good online sites to order from? I dont want a knock off so i wont even try eBay. Looking to spend less then $130 if possible. What is the difference between these two other then price? I checked the Hoya website, but there is not a lot of information on their line of different CP filters. http://www.amazon.com/Hoya-Digital-C...9599463&sr=8-3 http://www.amazon.com/Hoya-77mm-HD-C...599463&sr=8-12

Don't go cheap with the polarizer. B&W is purely amazing, and yes I have gone through a couple of different brands that i won't name. My B&W was worth every penny, I own it in 77mm slim as well as the 105mm.
As for where to purchase, you can always try B&H Photo as well as 2filter.com

I've stayed true to B+W and Hoya for the most part. I think they both make quality products.
When/if buying used, be careful that you're buying from a reputable seller/store because fakes/knock-offs do exist. |

So i have been searching the sites listed and Amazon for a B+W filter and found that Amazon is by far the cheapest. If i buy from Amazon directly and not some seller on Amazon i should be safe from fakes.
Now, i have found that the MRC is almost a must, is this true? I am also not going to get the slim one because its not for a wide angle lens and i want to be able to slap my lens cap on without taking the filter off. From the sounds of it, i cant do this with a slim filter because it doesnt have any threads to clip the lens cap onto. Does this one seem ok? Its $165 to my door. http://www.amazon.com/77mm-Circular-...9600793&sr=1-4 Thanks guys for the tips thus far!

nice purchase! The B+W is definitely worth it, imo.

I have that same CPL in 77mm. Works very well. And since it's on a lens that does mostly outdoor shots (24-105mm), I just leave it on the lens. It doesn't cause vignetting on my 10-22mm, but on a lens that wide it can cause banding in the sky areas if you're not careful. Otherwise it works wonders for color.

It causes vignetting on my 17-40mm f/4L on the 5D2. On the 20D there is no vignetting.

For future reference you might want to try Maxsaver.net for B+W filters. They are an overseas company, but have proven to be a reliable source over the last few years. In this case only a few bucks cheaper: http://maxsaver.net/B-W-77mm-MRC-Cir...NEW-F-PRO.aspx , but good to know about regardless.

Do you have the slim version, because I get no vignetting with the combo you mentioned above.
