Buying an SLR Camera online..questions/advice.
Any of you guys know or trust a good online camera sales company?
Looking at buying the Canon EOS 30D. Want to get a good deal, but also want a REAL one (with full warranty), not a Chinese made knock off. Any experience with online camera sales stores and suggestions would be appreciated. |

I've bought a ton of stuff from B&H Photo Video.
They are great, but was looking for another option I might not know about. BH is pretty cheap, but there might be a place that sells for even less. Thanks for the replies so far, keep them coming. |

Yep, BH is the best. I wouldn't trust anyone else if they were lower. They ussually have the best prices. I've spent between 7k-10k with them.

B&H is the best, no question. The largest photo store in the world. Adorama is second best in the US. Beach, Penn Camera, Calumet, also good. Badger Graphic is great for large format -- better than B&H for that -- and they probably sell DSLRs, too. Robert White in the UK is good.
FWIW, I was a photographer in my pre-kids life. I wouldn't want to guess at how much I spent on photography stuff over time, but certainly most of my money went to B&H. Excellent prices, excellent customer service.

Driver72,
You may want to try www.newegg.com or even www.mwave.com both equally as good as far as pricing and shipment. I've never had to deal with mwave customer service but Newegg reps are always extremely helpful. Shot of warning, I have a Canon Exilim camera and I love it. If I could knock the camera, there would be 2 things that I would say are a bit of an inconvience(I believe only 1 of them is constant across all their cameras). 1) Unable to charge the camera unless you have the picture upload dock connected to it. Its real easy to lose it, and proprietary. 2) Up close pictures always come out blurry, no matter what quality, resolution, picture type, or any other setting you could ever mess with. Outside of those 2 things, this is probably the best camera I've ever owned. Goodluck in your quest

Dude, you need to talk to me about this stuff.
I have a great, smaller, place in NYC that you will get better deals than BH and it's all USA warranty stuff. A 30D with no USA warranty isn't a Chinese knock off, it's just an INT camera with NO USA warranty, so to get it fixed, you have to send it over seas or to Canada. It's called Grey Market gear and I've bought loads of that stuff over the years. I had an old Eos1 that had over 200,000 accuations made on it, that was grey market....... kj |
