'12 Laguna Seca Boss The Best Mustang Ever?
Yesterday I got the opportunity to take out a Laguna Seca Boss and I gotta say I am quite impressed with how far Ford has come. The car sounds really awesome, is decently quick, and handles tight and predictable. I'd love to take it out on a track day to see how good it really is and how it handles at the limit. However, I wouldn't give up an E92 M3 for a Boss.
I made this little video to capture the awesome experience.

It's a great performer but looks overdone to me.
The '67 fastback will always be my favorite, though.

Thank God they changed how they did the LS package and wheels for this upcoming year, and the paint scheme. The '13 looks much better, and they FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY painted the black plastic sideskirts and cladding the color of the body.

I suppose it is a bit over the top...but along the lines of performance it's pretty sweet.

The 2013 model will probably be available in April.

Well, it'll be available to order next month when the order banks open. I believe Job 1 is some time in February and I think you're right, the first BOSS to hit a customer's garage should be April. But yeah it is pretty crazy that you can order a 2013 while it's still 2011.

The regular Boss can be had for MSRP or less. The LS Boss is where they are trying to get greedy. If you need a lead let me know.

I haven't even seen $10k markup on a non-LS Boss, but it's definitely a car you have to shop around for. You WILL find it for MSRP or less, with your best bet being a lottery dealer who also isn't greedy. I've found that the bigger dealers with many allocations are the greediest, even buying up the allocations from the smaller dealers and then adding ADM when they put them on their own lots. There will also be smaller dealers with only one lottery allocation who think they can squeeze a shitload of profit out of a sucker. Avoid those too. I was surprised how many dealers were willing to work at MSRP. However, it helps to establish a deal with a dealer who hasn't yet received the car, and therefore hasn't been courted by the big dealers (I've found dealers in less affluent areas are more likely to deal, as they feel they're less likely to be able to move such an expensive Mustang anyway). Then again, with winter coming (of course only applies to certain parts of the country), and with the 2013s already being revealed, I wouldn't be surprised to find some decent deals on the remaining unsold '12s. |

Side note: anyone else think the revised 2013 Mustang looks less suitable to the Boss's nature? It looks too chunky and rounded. That's fine for the non-Boss models; the Shelby looks relatively similar, but with an improved rear, and the GT could have used a bit more of a bruiser look, but I want the Boss to remain lithe and relatively agile looking. Wish they could just keep the previous bumpers and sides while installing the new headlight and taillight assemblies.

Anyway, yeah I agree with you. The nose alone makes it look chunky and front-heavy. I would have like it better if they hadn't included that for next year. They say it's function as well as form, but I don't know.... TBH, the cladding also probably adds visual weight. However, there was just something about having that generic plastic cladding on there that didn't sit well with me at all. Maybe it's leftover hostility from how shitty the E36 looked with it on there (through '95 I think?). |

All I have to say is, if you are Ford's target audience for the Boss 302, which I am - mid to late 40's, grew up as a car kid playing with Hot Wheels everyday, can name to this day almost any '60's era car just by the hedlight signature at night, and whose Dad owned a '65 Mustang, Black over red interior, you are absolutely stupified when you see this car in person.

No. I didn't want them to start it because I'd of probably bought one of the white non-Laguna Boss 302 they had on the lot. And the reason I didn't consider one of them is because those two cars did not have the Torsin LSD/Recarro option (not sure why you'd order a Boss 302 without it).
