M-Sport Production start?
Still trying to decide on M-Sport vs regular sport. Either way, I'm looking at ED in the summer. I'm taking another trip in the fall (and I'd like some type of summer vacation) so I'm committed to summer 2012. That said, I hear August can be very crowded in Europe so would prefer early summer. And...it sounds like M-Sport will come out until July 2012. Anyone know, or care to provide an educated guess, as to whether that would be early July or late July? I'm kind of leaning towards M-Sport...and maybe even X-Drive (ride height not a concern), but it it doesn't come out until later July I might be stuck.

At this point we dont know definitively. So anyones guess is as good as urs at the moment. But judging from past activities, they usually lean towards the first half of the month ... dont get your hopes up yet though.
(in the same boat as u btw)

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping they begin early July, but I guess we won't know for sure for a few months.

Production of M Sport models starts in July 2012. xDrive should be the same but there's no final confirmation yet.
Best regards, south

When will the M-Sport package be available? Beginning July 2012. If its the "production" and not "availability" that starts in July, you might want to edit the sticky... |

So. Reconsidering M Sport now that wood interior trim is an option (as well as tan interior). Since I'm planning ED, if I could conceivably pick in first week of July that would work out quite nicely!

FYI, BMWBLOG is reporting from the NAIAS that "The M Sport Package will be available at launch time as well . . .". This is the first that I've seen this mentioned and is quite a change from the July 2012 date that BMW has previously announced. No verification from BMWBLOG whether this is correct or not.

No, that information is as wrong as it gets.
As we reported earlier (and just confirmed), production of the M Sport package will start in July with US deliveries to start in September. Best regards, south

I actually haven't contacted my dealer to order the M-sport yet. Can anyone chime in that HAS ordered an M Sport? Curious as to what's been floated out.
