Scary. Seems like more twins have been crashing compared to singles lately...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Be...ueen_Air_crash Looks extremely dramatic... Curious to see what happened |

Pretty sad, RIP to everyone and it is very difficult to say exactly what happened but it looks like a pretty classic case of stall during turn and spin to me. The left wing loses it and the plane rolls; even with an engine failure with that speed; the best thing to do is best glide speed and continue on forward if you are losing speed. A minimum turn in that situation can lead to stall and then spin.
A lot of speculation at this point but not much else could have happened here.

I think they are safer in the "I have 2 engines to get me where I'm going if shit goes down with one way". Meaning on takeoff and landing if one goes out obviously you can go way further but at the same time; they are more difficult to fly in case of an emergency so it takes much more training to fly a multi. You have higher P-factor and TQ effects and the wings are heavier with those engines on both sides so it is much easier to get one into a spin. A lot of pilots may be overconfident in twins coming from a single which is why training and experience is key.

I dont know, when I was working on my ME rating we performed a bunch of single engine go arounds obviously. The TwinStar didn't climb over 50-100fpm at VYSE, sure it gave me a little more time but overall shit performance. Remember i'm only talking about light twins here.

He got behind it, I was wondering if he came out of the clouds and became was disorientated, looking for the field and ignoring the warnings in the cockpit.
