Brake Fluid Service
Need this doing. Dealer has quoted £141!!!! Is this some kind of joke? Can do it myself but have FSH so want to try and keep that up if poss. Any advice? I was jarred at a £220 oil change (something like £40 a litre charged for oil) and have realised that they may be now taking the piss. For the record this is scothall stirling corner lot. It is my own fault as usually I would haggle check all local dealerships etc but for some reason i didnt on this occasion but it's starting to be a lesson learnt.
Any advice on future service money saving would be appreciated as well. Is there a list anywhere of average price for standard service item costs. I know it will differ slightly north and south but a quick check showed someone getting a brake fluid change for £50 which is about what Im willing to pay. Ta ds1980 |

No warranty. Calling an independent today but mate had a bad time with them so not sure now. Reckon I can find a mate with a stamp if I have to do it myself!! Ha

Many dealers will price match local independent specialists so try getting a quote elsewhere. You know, I may be in a minority, but the long intervals between services do make up for the highish cost, prices work out far cheaper than they did for the Volvos we used to drive (one reason I went over to BMW). I paid £25k+ for a car, so expect to pay these sort of prices to keep it serviced. |

OP, did you try to negotiate the cost of your brake fluid service? As 'Falmouthboy' suggests, it might be worth approaching the dealer with a quote from a local independent. Before I bought my F10 with service inclusive, I managed to get £100 knocked off the first service on my old E92. |

Try a few other BMW dealers as well I am sure mine was less than £100. Might be worth sending am email to Anneka if you have a Sytner nearby.

Thanks for responses. Will be looking elsewhere then trying to barter with dealer. Will see what other local dealers say also. Have 3 others nearby. Point taken on intervals but it still comes down to what would be a reasonable price to pay for a job and £141 is too much especially as I'm seeing dealers quoting half that. Surely it should have a standard price rather than them make up something they think thy can geT away with which is the idea I'm gettin at present.

To add to the argument maindealerservice as mentioned in another post have quoted £54 for the same service. Granted it is 100 miles away but hopefully that will give fuel to any arguments. Need to do more research but that website looks like it coul really shake up the dealer service Market. Quite right.

Some good deals on there, looking forward to having one locally but it would only pay for me to take up the offer if it was done 'while you wait' and was a substantial price difference as I'm over in Reigate .
