I think my girlfriend is just stressed because she is taking MCAT next month. She gets mad at me when I try to talk to her/invite her out because she is in lockdown mode. When I text her she gets mad because I am ruining her concentration. She can basically only talk to me at night before she sleeps and we phone for a bit.

Anyways, since she's in super study mode, and I can't even go to her house because she needs to focus, I have been playing video games. The thing is, its not even that much. I work 9-4 during the week since school is out. I play maybe 1 hours a day if at all. Weekends 3-4 a day because I am in forza tournament.

Anyways, I was playing madden earlier with one of my friends who came oer, but not anymore since I was getting ready for bed. She got mad when I said i was playing games all afternoon. Then the fun ensued : )

I reread this convo and it doesn't even make sense lol.

Her: i forgot i was speaking to a 3 year old!

I got a speech last night about how "there is more to life than cars and videogames" and how I need to grow up and join the real world and get a job.
Im 20, in uni as a junior (but taking several senior level courses) and finding internships right now.

And fyi, if she needs to study nonstop for it for most of the day, she probably won't do very well. It's really something you need to already know the material for before going in, and studying should just be getting used to the questions and structure. It's very possible she's realized this and is now even more stressed out.

I can't date someone who just wants to go out and doesn't have some sort of plan with their lives; it translates to their daily habits and can get really annoying. Maybe she's seeing this in you.

BTW...you cannot prepare for standardized test like the MCAT....it is a complete waste of time...you either know it or you don't

I have taken more standardized test over the past 20 years than I care to recall...I am on the admissions committee for my med school and interview applicants...so I kinda have a sense of her type...

What? I don't know anyone that simply does not prepare for the MCAT. Even the brightest require at least a few weeks to learn the rules of the test and practice the format. The volume of material tested is small but it is arguably the most important exam a (potentially) future physician will take.

OP, she might just be stressed. That being said, I don't see that you did anything wrong. As long as video games aren't destroying your life, it's none of her business what you do in your free time.

PS - I would NEVER recommend dating a future med student. They will be constantly stressed for the next 4-8 years, and ironically, everything in their life will become secondary to their education. Know what you're getting yourself into, if this is a serious relationship.

Lol its funny because when I think about it she's the immature one.

too many quotes to post, but its not like I play games all the times. I have friends who play 4-6 hours a day, and I think that is over the limit.

Btw, I am very certain of my future, and that is why I am resting right now. During the school year I play maybe 1-2 hours a week max if any at all.

I am studying Computer Science, I knew that I wanted to study that since high school, and next semester I am going to be starting some masters courses since I am ahead in the undergraduate program, and I am graduating early.

She's not even sure if she wants to be a doctor. She reads online how you have to study a lot, and she said she's not even sure if she can study anymore for 4 years. That and all the horrible stories about getting no sleep and never leaving your house during med school makes it so she's not even sure if she wants to go through with it.

I am not even sure if she wants to study it because she likes it or not, orfor the $$. I asked her why is she studying medicine and she didn't really know why. She said well you know, my parents want me to be a doctor, or a lawyer, something big.

I told her if she's not studying something she doesn't like, she is just going to regret it later. She says she does like it now, but who knows.
