Where do you shop? *clothes*
I'm a fan of casual to upscale casual, low maintenence attire that can work for a get together as well as a nicer restaurant or club. Depending on the outing I usually go with cheaper jeans because they look alright and are well... Cheap. I dont do logos or self advertising stuff like Abercrombie, this far I stick with some stuff from Gap but not much most of their stuff is too, "hayyy" or old man ish, jeans I stick with American Eagle and then there's old navy
for plain stuff. Express for dress shirts How about you? I'm looking to branch out but would have to shop online because I'm in the middle of nowhere. Polo polos or locoste polos sleeves aren't for me, they fit akward.

Go to an upscale retailer (Nordstrom, Neiman, Bloomingdales, etc) and get 2 pairs of nice jeans. They just plain fit better. I've also found that they're MUCH higher quality denim (ie, blended with lycra for better form/comfort balance). For casual, I have a few pairs of cords from J.Crew and most of my shirts are either Rugby or $15 tees that I find at random places. I'm also 30 and live in Connecticut so the same thing may not fly in other areas.
I wear a suit every day for work so I have my dress shirts custom made. I'm vaguely athletic but have a 17" neck which means most shirts that fit my neck are made for people that are 250-300lbs (read: YARDS of extra fabric). I got so tired of wearing parachute shirts that I had to go custom.

Brooks Brothers is about as hip and modern as a smoking jacket.

Polos are polos...just find the ones that fit. Lacoste fits me weird too, but Brooks Bros fits me perfect. And who said anything about "modern" or "hip" ? Gotta grow up sometime, can't dress like a kid your whole life. Sport and dress shirts have been around forever with tried and true patterns that Brooks brothers does quite well, they have plenty of colors & patterns (tattersall, striped) that younger guys can pull off without looking like grandfathers. Sure, they have plenty I wouldn't be caught dead in, but that goes for nearly every brand. They aren't too expensive, are excellent quality, I love their no-iron shirts
For jeans, I've had good luck with Diesel |

Can you wear black with brown?!?! Some say yes some say F no! Brown belt, black shirt? Tan with black? Say what that's not brown it's TAN!
Worst part about online shopping = sizing nightmare American apparel does the t shirt thing well.

I typically only go brown shoe/belt with blue pants.
As far as sizing... I just order 2 or 3 sizes and just return the sizes that don't fit. It works very well at places like J.Crew where you can return everything right to the store.
