Official Montreal Members Thread
We seem to have a pretty decent number of members here, so if you're from Montreal please check in and introduce yourself. I'll edit this original post with the usernames of Montreal members.
In other threads we have discussed winter tires (i.e. prices, where to buy them etc...), doing the BMW driver training courses, and possibly a Montreal meet as well. Montreal Member Roster findtom stewthebassman wolf benoit ssam michelito bimmerista mbechara EvEr35 (Ottawa) Procureur Mr.Abulia (Ottawa) Anthony H (Ottawa) Ayeki Tilou Discoboy1 MTL-E90 sergiodimarco GF Please let me know if any of the above usernames are misspelled or if I'm missing any that you know of. If you see a Montreal member pop up on the board please link them to this thread because they probably won't find it otherwise. NEW MEET: October 8 Here is the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/calend...=2006-10-8&c=1 Last edited by findtom; 09-08-2006 at 11:26 PM.. |

First reply.
Good, no, great, initiative for this thread. To pick up on some of the discussions in the previous thread: I live right behing the Hippodrome so if the Advanced two is given there I could walk (ha ha of course I won't - at this point I feel like taking my garbage to the curb in my car I love driving it so much). I am also interested in the Advanced 2 (the full day course) and then the one immediately higher up from it (forgot the name) which is also a full day and teaches more about slidding etc. I just put on my winters myself last Saturday - exactly one hour it took - the issue for me was not as much putting on the bolts as properly aligning each mag without damaging the brakes.....And of course because I am an idiot I put the two back wheels in reverse rotation order so I had to switch them (took an additional 20 minutes plus get hell from wife for taking too long). I would love to get together before the snow stays on the ground. Let us see if perhaps we can meet at say the Orange Julep place (or anywhere esle for that matter). |

Thank you jwocky. And perhaps one day, when the warm sun melts off our permafrost, we can meet some of the Northeasterners (NY, NJ) members in upstate NY (very beautifull and great driving roads).

Okay, I've updated the member listing including the names mentioned from Ottawa. As far as I'm concerned anyone within reasonable driving distance of Montreal should be listed.
I was reading on the BMW driver training site and they actually have group programs and discounts. Something to look into when the time comes I guess. We've got a long winter ahead before then... With regards to a meet. I've never done one of these before, do we all just park our cars and walk around admiring them? It could be pretty cool to meet on some twisty roads somewhere and do a convoy style drive somewhere? Maybe somewhere on the west island or just west of the city if there are going to be members from Ottawa coming?? As mentioned above if we're going to do this it would have to be pretty soon. Maybe next weekend? |

Present! Another Montrealer stands up and is counted. I'm still interested in knowing more about snow tires and rims. My neighbor Luc and I (we both have new 330i's with SP and are dreading the thought of taking off our 162's for winter! BTW I'll see if I can get him interested in joining this site.

Okay, who would be interested in a meet the weekend of November 12th. Is the Saturday or Sunday a better day?
Tilou, I'm booked to get Toyo Garits put on my 325 at Talon (http://www.talontire.com/). They seem to really know what they're talking about (I dealt with John) and I've heard good things about them. They're also an official sponsor of BMW Car Club of Canada according to their site, whatever that means. |

OK, I could make it that weekend. However, I could make it the weekend of Nov 4-5 as well, if that would permit Stew to join us. Tilou: I heard good things about TOYOs as well, however, I have Dunlop M3s on mine (on 17' mags M5 replica - from Tiretrends.com). I love the Dunlops. |
