How the Chinese in Hong-Kong look down on Mainlanders.

Having lived in Asia as an expat for 20 years I find this quite funny at times and interesting at other times. The Taiwanese People along with the Hong-Kong people often look down on the Chinese from the Mainland often seeing themselves as superior to the Mainlander Chinese people. If you ask me they are all Chinese and the Chinese in Hong-Kong are no less noisy or obnoxious then the Chinese from China. Try spending a few nights in Hong-Kong at a Hotel and you will see that the locals will stand in the hallway to their talking or right in front of your hotel doorway and do all their chatting right in front of your door as you try and sleep. This is not just in Hong-Kong but in Taiwan as well.

it's hard to tell if they're angry or just talking normally. such a harsh language to begin with. BUT anyway, i'm with everyone else that has no clue what this thread is about.

I don't think it's that bad in HK compared to Taiwan. At least people in HK consider themselves from China.

Taiwanese consider themselves as a whole separate country and have no affiliation with China.

Can someone that is Asian (which I no a lot of you here are) care to enlighten me to what they are saying. Also, if possible explain why the mainlanders are looked down upon (as I know this happens, but what's the history behind it) or at least a link lol to lazy to look for myself

This is what I got from the video. A kid was eating crispy noodle snacks on the train, and made a mess. Someone told them not to eat on the train; I assume it's against the rules. Kid and mom are mainland chinese. Eventually an argument broke out and became a mainland chinese vs. hong kong situation. Someone notified the train staff and he came and asked everyone to get off at the next stop to sort it out. At that point, lady in yellow shirt snapped and started yelling, saying things like "when we get off the train, I'm going to argue with your even more!"

Notice that the reporting and captioning in the video do not refer to the mandarin speakers as Chinese ("people of Middle Country"), rather "people of Strong (Forceful) Country".

Anyway, that's my understanding of the video.

i'm abc and i can't stand hk fobs that live here. a lot of them think they are the shit...especially the ones that drive nice cars. NTIA
