I'm sick of the sob stories!
I'm sick of reading these sob stories of people breaking the law and whining about having to pay the fine. The laws are in place to protect us, I'm not saying I'm perfect, but why blatantly break the law. And why cry about a $100 ticket? If you're so worried about it, then you must be young, or irresponsible. Some people need to hold themselves more accountable.

Not fond of cops since I find many here break the same traffic laws they are supposed to enforce (speeding, red light runs, roll though stop sign, no signalling, etc).
However, if I a break a law knowingly then I have no one to blame but myself. The laws and enforcement of them are the only thing keeping us from anarchy (think Iraq or Somalia). Quite frankly, the slow breakdown of societal norms and lack of respect for the laws of this country is frightening.

Driving sports cars is just begging for a ticket. You can't help yourself, you MUST occasionally push the envelope. It's not that that we're talking about. It's those who push the envelope, get caught and then bitch about it.
I speed on occasion and recently discovered the joy of barefoot driving - both of which are against the law here in GA. If I get busted, tough shit, I'll take my medicine and shut up. I agree though that 5 or 10 over is ridiculous. However, bear in mind sometimes it's a statement. I got a ticket once years ago for going 40 in a 35. A child had just been killed by a speeding driver two weeks before and they were NOT playing games. There may be extenuating circumstances such as that which you may not be aware of. Just be careful and use reasonable discretion. Most police officers are damn good people just making a living. |

I agree.
I recently got a parking ticket, WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR. The cop said he didn't like my attitude, which I did give him one. But not until after he said that. I paid the $65 ticket and moved on. One of my dads HPD buddies said it all had to do with me being a young guy in a BMW. He was the first cop I've ever had an issue with. |

Yea, unfortunately Couch, you will encounter those. Like all professions, there are bad apples in every crop. I'm sorry you had a negative experience. Just don't be bitter to them all, when you need them, they are a blessing to see coming!

I don't have a problem with the police - I have a problem with the laws. Too often, the laws aren't here to protect us, they're here to generate revenue. I'm curious how my car not having a front plate endangers my fellow citizens.

A dumbass cop was a block away (long block) with a blind spot. He saw me NOT STOP for a stop sign when I did. Saw an opportunity to give a CA guy a ticket, and did. That story is worth complaining about. But as for the ones about speeding and actually breaking the law...then nah, just deal with it.
