To be honest, I did this for the e46. I would order without a test drive for the e90 also (yes, I have that much trust that this car will as good as the e46 in every way, and even better in some other ways) but I don't plan on buying one for another year or two, so I can wait to test drive. You thinking of ordering without testing first? |

I am on the waitlist for the E90 M3 and will have to buy without a test drive unless I want to wait 1-1.5 years for the car... that is if the demand is anything like it was for the E36 and E46 M3s... I guess I could test drive and then pay over sticker for it but I have confidence that it will be another great car.

You're already on the waitlist for the M3?? Didn't even know you could be on such a list already. Did your dealer tell you how long you have to wait and when you would have to place a deposit? Did you guarantee you MSRP when it does come out? I would love an M3 but don't think I can wait that long. The moment everyone starts posting pics of the e90 they just picked up, I'll break and walk straight to my dealer I know it My plan is to drive a regular e90 for a couple years then tradein for the M3. |

I got on the wait list this time last year and I was the 3rd person to do so. I spoke to my dealer a few days ago and he said there are now 30 people on the list and I would imagine that number will jump up as soon as the E90 is released in May. I put a deposit of $1000 when I was put on the list which is fully refundable up until the time I spec out the car. I will pay MSRP and not over.
I was forward thinking because I had an E36 M3 with 100k miles and trade it in for a 2003 FX45 (I needed the *******. The FX is not a bad car by any means and defiantly one of the better sports SUVs. But that being said it’s an SUV and not a sports car. By the time the M3 comes out I will not need the extra space that the FX gives me and it will be nice to get behind the wheel of an M3 again. |

I spoke to several dealers in my area until I found a sales person that I liked but all local dealers were all taking depostis and had a waitlist availible. I used my amex so yes they did take the money but there are some that just hold the check and don't cash it... but it would be a good question to ask

I did this for a Lotus ($1,000 deposit), but couldn't stay the course. Ended up pulling my deposit out with 6 months left and bought an s2000. I was told that I'd have the first peak and test drive of the Lotus when it came out while I was on the list. HOpefully you'll have the same special treatment because you've got a deposit down and are so far ahead in the list. You went from an M3 to a SUV? ouch. |

My friend was on the list for an Elise and opted to pay a premium and get the car early... What a fun little car, the S2000 is a great car too.
I would imagine that I will not get to drive an M3 before mine comes. Being 3rd on the list I'm guessing that my car will be in the first shipment and will arrive the same time as the dealer demo... Maybe BMWNA will have a track day before the release, which would be nice. |

I really thought that I might have been first on the list and was really surprised that there were two people in front of me. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a solid estimate but he thinks Oct 2006... There are rumors that it won't be out till Oct of 2007 but that will be over two years from the release of the E90 and BMW usually waits just one year of the M model... I hope my dealers guess is right... the time line he gave me was
sedan May 2005 coupe & Wagon May 2006 M3 Oct 2006 But he has no details on the M, like whether it will be sedan and coupe, V8 with 400 or 440 HP. I hope we start getting more details once the E90 get released. |

I ordered without a testdrive. It's like love at first sight
I like the look of the E90 esp. the front and I know that 3 series is a flagship car so BMW won't let any car manufacturer beat them up on technology, handling and thier sport sedan character. :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: |

Yep! I did. The car was the best on the market for my purposes, and I couldn't wait, and I'm not disappointed!

I also ordered the E90 before I even saw it in real life... I have never been disappointed by BMW, so I was not worried about test-driving at all.
Last week I finally test-drove a 330i Sport similar to the one I ordered... and I'm absolutely impressed by the handling and the ride quality on the 162 wheels. The drive was so impressive that I never got time to even check anything else in the car. I was only interested in checking the breaking, acceleration, gear changes, exhaust note, etc. I have no regrets with ordering before a test-drive, and I will still do it again when a new 3 comes along.... well, at least as long as BMW keeps producing cars that are exciting to drive.... it's time to book another test-drive where I can test the gizmo's.

Most likely going to end up Paying the tax in South Carolina, don't know the cost yet but rather pay it then have some local here side swipe it n only have to pay 100 dollars.. But unfortunately I am here for two years so it's either purchase the car right around the time i will be going on leave or just wait until my tour here comes to an end, many options to think of..
