Jb4 map 7 requirements

I seen couple of people run map7 with just race fuel and dci with out any other mods I was wondering if it's safe to run map7 with race fuel or atleast map2 right now I got about 4.5 gallon of race fuel and the rest 93 should have a mixed of about 96 octane. I was thinking of adding nos octane booster racing formula, what would it raise my octane level to? And would it. Be safe to run map7 or map2 or should I just stick to map 5 or 1

I would not and do not. I buy 100 octane race fuel from a 76 gas station in LA and then blend it with California's piss-gas premium, 91 octane. The link below comes in handy to figure out the resulting octane after blending.
http://ranney.com/mjr/fuel_blend.html

I've also used Lucas Octane Booster (similar to NOS' version). I read on N54Tech dot com that half a bottle of additive to a full E90/E92 tank of 91 octane fuel raises the octane level to just below 93 octane. I can definitely tell a difference as the car is much more responsive, pulls harder under WOT, and even idles better.

Bottom line, don't run Map 7 unless you have a FBO or your going to stress your engine. You're better off running Map 1 or 2 with race fuel (you'll feel the difference) or better yet, Map 5. Take advantage of Map 5's auto-tune ability to utilize that extra octane. After all, that's part of what you paid for in a JB4. Just my 2 cents.

Running Map 7 without being FBO isn't stressing the engine anymore than running Map 7 with FBO... The only requirement to run on Map 7 is 100+ octane. That's it. All other parts aren't necessary, but will create better times at the track.

Just make sure you're running 100 oct. I've ran my car MANY times with just a tune on Map7/race gas. No issues ever. For reassurance, you can also log your runs also.

BTW SneakyDeeky, your car is HAWT!!

I guess you could run map 7 with just a 100 octane but personally I think you should stick to map 1 or 2 and really 5. Like he said the auto-tune is a key feature in the JB4 because it maximizes your cars potential without over working the car.

Put it this way, i ran map 5 without meth ( 100 oct if you will ) and autotuned to 13 psi with just DCI. I then ran it with meth and autotuned to 16psi, Huge difference.

So since at the time i did not have a FSB ( not recommended) i threw on map 7 and the car ran strong, I almost blew the motor when a line popped but you get the idea.

So to answer your question, Yes you can run map 7 with just 100oct and DCI with no issues. However i would suggest burning some fuel before going WOT as their might still be some 93 lurking around.

So far I been running map 2 and I feel a big difference I don't think map 5 feels as strong but I'll have to give it a try. The only thing I don't like about map 5 is that it feels like its not consistent well at least to me it feels that way so far I really like map 2. I won't run map7 till I make sure I have 100 octane I found a chart and looks like I have about a 96 octane so I have to wait till I fill up again to try map7 I should have my downpipes by then so i cant wait.

Downpipes wont give you more of a reason to run map 7. You need to raise octane in order to run that kind of boost with race gas or methanol. Downpipes will free up spooling room but not much more then that.

Dont think Dp's will give you the mods needed for 16.5 psi. You need better fuel which in turn yields better timing, which then gives you a healthy 16.5psi with no problems or worries.

Running 16+ psi on 93 oct is "HIGHLY" not recommended .

I know that's why I'm waiting till my next fill up to make sure I have only race fuel and 100 octane I wasn't trying to run map 7 on 93 octane. I just wanted to make sure if there was any more requirements for map7 other the 100 octane fuel. My next two mods are downpipes and intercooler and maybe a charge pipe after that.

16.5 psi on stock dps? No go to me.... Doesnt matter how much octane you got there. A race map should be run FBO and with the right octane.
If your intention is to do 3 1/4 passes fine but the backpressure gonna be huge and make those turbos work like mad.

I would listen to the guy that created it, Terry says you're good to go with map 7 on 100+ octane then go for it. That's what he told me, first time I ran it at the track it was a monster and ran a 12.031. Not trying out map 7 at least once in a JB4 car is just a crime

Go tell that to the Cobb guys running Stage 2+ Aggressive on 93 octane, with DP and FMIC. I think they are hitting 18psi+ ? Then again they are messing big time with advance, if you add the CPS module from Burger you could likely do the same thing. Adding more octane is easier but not an option for everyone.

We need to elect a drag racing president or something that will mandate 100 octane at every pump

I mix 93 & 100 when I fill. I run Map5 so I don't need to think about the exact proportions. Just run in $50 of 100 & top it with 93. Except for a hero run to get a solid time slip with 100% 100 would not do much running in Map7.

I had a Frankenstein kit with no fail safe, I had a meth kit when fail safes were still up in the air as to which one is simply going to work properly.

Now that Terry came out with the FSB thats the kit i would buy.

Ya the turbos would be working their ass off, But on the other hand its not all as bad as running 93oct on 16.5 psi. I ran 17psi with just meth and dci and the car ran like a champ for a little over a year.
Before i traded the car in.

I never really put any effort into research on the COBB, i always felt people who bought it were just to lazy to install a piggyback. Plus you cant efficiently run a reliable fail safe if you want methanol.
You miss out on gauge hijacking and all future CANbus options.

Ya i bet its smooth, but who wants the slower tune?

The only correct answer in here (if anyone even said it) is log your car.... Too many misconceptions in here right now to tackle.
