No, I just agree a fair price. I've been using the same garages for years and they usually give me a good price. Sometimes I haggle if I think it's a bit too much but most of the time I just pay what they ask because I always get good jobs done.

I wouldn't. They size you up and quote your accordingly, so anything over that is just a waste.

They charge for labor, no? That is their cut... No place I know of charges for only the equipment/product use, they charge for labor too. No need to tip, but if they do an exceptionally good job or give you just an amazing deal, then it might be good to throw them a bone so you can continue to have a good relationship with them for future needs.

I do, but because it's a friend of mine from highschool and he always quotes me at just his supplies and I always give him at least $100 more than he asked.
(He painted and installed an aero front bumper, aero rear bumper, fixed some rock chips on the hood, and resprayed the passenger door on an e93 I had for $450. I gave him $150 extra that time). |
