Another Fuel Pump on its last breath, Built Feb-07

Feb 2007 build
E92 335i MT SP w/ oil cooler, old (300 max) oil temp guage
6.5k miles
91 Oct. Fuel; all different brands
No mods

After I hit the start button, the car took so long cranking it just quit on its own. After I hit the start button again, it started but it was sputtering and gasping, rpm just barely hanging on above 500 and about to quit. Turned it off and started it agin for the third time, the car goes into reduced power mode and CEL on.

After I make it to work in that condition, I re-started the car and the reduced power mode is gone but the CEL is still on. A quick drive around the block and it seems much weaker than before. I don't know if its just me but the car felt like it pulled much harder yesterday.

No tell tale signs of fuel pump failure beore this except the extended cranking.

I'll drive it until it dies, then take it into the dealer. I'll post what they say after I take it in.

There is a software glitch that causes the same simptoms

Some on the board have had theirs fixed with the software fix

Or it could be something way different like a bad sensor

Which dealer did you go to? Is there a dealer who has done fuel pump replacements in the Los Angeles Area?

If its gonna happen, I wanna keep the car as long as possible. Also this was a purchase, maybe not the best decision being a first year model but I wanna keep it out of the dealer's hands if possible.

I had a similar problem about 3 weeks ago. The first start in the morning the car would crank 4-5 times before it would start. No cel however. Took it to the dealer who installed software version 25.02.00. said they checked the fuel pump and it checked out good. Software in my case fixed the problem. It now starts on the first crank every time. I have 4700 miles, 8/06 build, and only use Shell V power Premium

My Fuel Pump aldo failed 3 weeks ago. Dealer told me today that there are 400 units on backorder in the US. What type of compensation has BMWNA offered you all?
