About to pull trigger on 335 coupe!

I am about ready to plunk down a deposit for a 335 coupe (prior 325ci and 330xi owner); July build august delivery

I've been doing my research and it seems the main issues are the HPFP and Oil Cooler.

Since I'm getting a 6 speed manual with sports package, I should not be affected by this issue, correct?

I might or might not have the hpfp problem; it seems Bosch will be building the hpfp instead of Siemens, but no one seems to be sure if they are going into current production 07 335s or if it will be done for 2008 models

TIA

the dealer isn't budging much of the sticker; given its demand, do i should be paying sticker?

Most likely, and go ahead and splurge just the little. If nothing else, The convenience access is entertaining and helpful, and the leather smells fantastic.

But yeah, only a few scumbag dealerships have been gouging on the prices, expect to pay no less than list... Maybe $500 off here or there if they love you.

Enjoy!

You the same as me - leatherette, Heated Seats, Sports Package....thats all you really need - just got it last week car is Awesome....

As far as price - I did Costco pricing got about 1500 off MSRP all done at the dealer - ask them if they do Costco pricing if yes get yourself a membership for 45 bucks if you don't have one and go that route - its a decent deal and no hassle/headaches...

paul miller in wayne nj

i haven't done any negotiations

they seem to be willing to work more on sedans, but i want an E92

they said i can make the decision to buy/lease later, but i'd be essentially shooting myself in the foot if i dont negotiate both today?

I would definately negotiate the deal, whether you buy or lease, BEFORE you order. You are going to be so bad when it gets there that you will have lost all power to get a decent deal.

The Sport Package will get you the oil cooler. As far as the fuel pump issue... it seems like the new vendor (Bosch) solves the problem, but whether it makes your build is another question.

I just visited the dealer tonight...

I wanted to at least drive a 335 with a manual, whether it is a sedan and/or xi; I just wanted to get a feel of the gearbox/clutch as well as the engine. The closest thing they have is a 335xi 6speed and a 335 auto coupe no sport. The 335xi is already sold and the 335 has not been 'prepped." I will most likely drive it tomorrow or sat.

I really wanted to drive a manual piece because my stick 325ci left me unsatisfied. The shift action was sloppy, and the clutch was extremely light and caught high and abruptly. My s2000 and sc300 were both better in terms of feel. I have heard diff things about the 335 box so I thought it best I drive it.

It is somewhat weird that I have to put a deposit on a car that I will never get to drive until I buy it.

Anyway, the dealer has a few allocations left for the 335 to be built in July and delivered in August/Sept. He said if I wanted to lease, I should get a 2007, and act fast (like tomorrow) if I wanted to secure a spot. If I wanted to buy, he advised getting a 2008. Lease/purchase for both would be calculated at sticker! However, he said if demand for the 335 dies down and I ordered a 2008, he'd work with me on the price. In addition, he said the 2008 335 wouldn't probably come until NOV/DEC?!

As far as the deposit, he said it depended on how I ordered it. If I ordered something "peculiar" which apparently jet blk on blk leatherette with just sport and heated is, the $1000 deposit is non-refundable. If I ordered an auto with premium (which I would not), the deposit would be $500 and refundable.

As of now, I do not know if I should lease or buy i.e. 2007 vs. 2008. Since I am getting the 6spd + sport combo, I will def get the oil cooler. The HPFP issue remains a mystery; I would probably be safer getting a 2008.

We shall see! I hope I can sleep tonight...

You should be able to get the dealer to take some money off of the sticker. I am not sure how much they are taking off or how close you can get it to invoice. I went through the same as you...I actually ordered my E92 before it even hit the showroom floor and I did not see it at any car shows..I saw some pics online and read a few articles and I was sold..

Now regrets whatsoever.

I ordered my car 8/19/06 picked it up on 10/06/06

I am getting my oil cooler retrofitted and my fingers are crossed 9000 miles on original fuel pump.

Space Gray E92 335i
I-drive
sports package
steptronic
paddles
bluetooth
cold weather
blackette w/ gray poplar

No regrets with the blackette.

When I ordered my car most dealers were not willing to take more than $500 off the sticker I got mine for $1400 off.

I'll try calling other dealers; this dealer was pretty set on not selling for below sticker...

only problem with buying thru other dealers is that this dealer (paul miller in wayne) is my local dealer and they only give loaners if u bought the car from them..

and i agree the non-refundable policy is BS..

Its actually illegal in CA to have a non-refundable deposit for new cars. Check your state law.

You still have tons of questions, you're not ready imho, not knowing if you'll lease or buy is a red flag...my suggestion would be to hit some other dealerships, you've got so many in your area.

Write up in the dealer review section.

856-840-1431

p.s. they have a BRAND NEW dealership and need to move mucho cars... so if they dont steal the farm on your deal... they rather make alittle then NOTHING.

I just found out that JMK in Springfield will give you a loaner as long as your car is in warranty. This means I can expand my search to virtually any dealer within reason.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am most likely going to purchase a 2008.

They want a $5K deposit on a Space Gray and Saddle Leather combo around here.

Good luck with your deal and remember to tell the dealership to shove that automatic straight up their ass!
