Exclamation AFE Drop-In Filter Fitment

I've heard a few people and some vendors comment that the AFE drop-in filters do not fit correctly in the airbox. They seem to be too big and the air box lid does not close properly at the corners unless people "jam it in there".

I think this issue is now resolved. Afe have redesigned the mold they use to make those filters as they have received some complaints about it. The mold was redesigned sometime in February of this year and the first batch of filters were shipped out two weeks ago.

My Pro Dry S drop in filter fits perfectly and the lid closes just fine.

I thought I'd share with anyone looking to replace the OEM filter.

Do you always run stock airbox? Or have you done a mr5 mod?

I just checked the afe website and it lists only the pro 5R filter and not the pro dry S for my 2007 335i. Any reason they wouldn't have the pro dry available?
