Heat soaked

I hear about heat soak and have done some online research but still a bit unclear about the topic. So my question is...

Is heat soak likely if running stock with a flash tune, no other engine modifications?

Based on my reading it seems heat soaking is more likely to happen if aftermarket bolt-ons are used(?) along with tracking more so than street driving. No?

The stock FMIC is extremely inefficient at higher boost pressure. Apparently BMW thinks its good enough for 7 seconds of "overboost" but I disagree. If you have no plans of running meth injection, it's a worthy upgrade.

Yep, and it has very little thermal mass, so under heavy loads it's a poor heat sink. What does that mean? It means the heat from your compressor travels through the stock intercooler to the intake.

You'll be fine.
I started with tune only at first, and just wanted to keep the car going faster so I started adding more stuff.

Heat soak is inevitable even on stock power actually. The stock FMIC is simply inefficient.

You can get away without one of course, but you will lose consistency from back to back pulls.

An aftermarket FMIC will provide increase throttle response and will have less potential for heat soak.

Keep in mind a reduction in intake air temperatures will result in a happier engine as it will be less likely to knock.

Mine definitely got saturated with just the Dinan S2 flash. I swapped it out for a Helix this weekend and was surprised at how unimpressive the stock unit is.

Here's a comparison between the two, and it seems the shell is the thickness of those metal tabs you see folding over the end cap; the thing only weighed like 5 lbs.
