Thumbs up Intercooler Basics

http://www.are.com.au/techtalk/intecoolersMR.htm

Ok so I finally found the favorite I'd saved on this, and since I haven't seen anything informative posted on its own, I thought I would share...especially in light of all of the "which intercooler is better" and the IAT vs pressure drop posts I've seen. There's always a debate about what intercooler to get and why, bar and plate vs tube and fin, etc. This is by far the most comprehensive explanation of intercoolers I've ever seen. Much thanks to ARE for taking the time to write such a comprehensive overview! Some of the larger picture links aren't working now, and parts of it are trying to sell ARE products, but this writeup really is phenomenal.

For those of you who have questions, you should definitely take the time to read this before buying one. It might just steer you in a different direction.

Sticky maybe?

Indeed, thanks for the link; their web design makes me want to mass murder kittens though.

+1 on the web design making me not want to read it. Anyone who reads this would most likely stray away from the straight through internal fin packs.

Yeah that's a great point as well as the section on using venturis(half round bars)on the ambient and especially the charge side of the core

******"Much more important (to performance) than the ambient air flow disruption is the charge air flow disruption entering the core flow passages."
