Gear box
My 2006 E90 320D M sport has down 40k mainly motorway miles, full bmw service history, I notice when driving the gearbox isn't the smoothest? My works car is a passat and will pretty much go in and out of all gears very easily, Going up the gears seems pretty much ok, Coming down in to 4th can be a little difficult sometimes,
Is this normal? |

When I got my first pre-LCI 330d I couldnt belive how agricultural the gear shift was compared to my previous car - Vectra 3.0 CDTi. But I got used to it. The LCI is much better.

I agree, the bigger boxes on the early 335 etc are slick enough.
But my 2010 318D is better even going on similar mileage now. You could try an oil change, improved a few cars I have owned by filling with MT-3 I miss the Honda S2000 box, still the slickest 'rifle-bolt' gearbox I have ever found. Try one sometime - exceptional.

Had a civic typeR with it in and is by far the best box I've ever used. The one in my new 320d is the worst part of the car, don't know where BMW got it from but it's about as Msporty as Johny Vegas
