Mercedes setting off V1?
More and more I drive past Mercs, especially the SUV's and I'm getting the K band going off on my V1. Anyone else notice this? How annoying.

Audi cars do it too. It's from the BSM (blind spot monitoring) system. Some companies use K band radar for it while others (like Ford) use sonar. It's extremely annoying when you are stuck behind one in traffic and it constantly sets off the V1. I'm curious how the V1 would act when it's in a vehicle that has a K band BSM.

Yeah, not much you can do about it right now, Maybe V1 will have a software update to allow it to ignore these signal. There are a few cars that have have the active cruise control and if they are behind you, you get the constant rear face hit on the the V1.
Also some cars LED tail lights cause the Laser indicator to go off as well. |

You do not want to turn off K, many places still use K band Radar to measure speed and yes some LEDs will set off the laser detector, Why, because LIDAR actually uses an infrared laser to measure speed and if the LED Lights are cheap and not narrow band emitters they can leak into the infrared bands and the the V1 will picked them up.

Anyway... the one thing V1 could do is get rid of the X band as no cops use it. They should (use it)... because I just ignore X band all the time. They should also run HID headlights in their cruisers because the Halogens are a dead giveaway since everyone and their sister has a car with HID's these days... Cops... not too smart. |

If you live in SoCal I don't know why you would have K band on. No cops around here use it.
With K and X bands active the V1 is pretty much useless to me. I get used to ignoring it as I get maybe 1000 false alarms for every real one. |

I only have Ka and L enabled on mine. Zero false alarms.
Photo radar and Police all use Ka. The only K and X bands i get are from automatic doors, so i turned them off.

is the passport 9500 or the current V1 any better on this? I have an older V1 (version 1.7) which is falsing like crazy lately to the point where I am ignoring it. Father's day is coming and it may be time for a new detector

You can program the V1 to ignore all K band below a certain threshold. Did this when I got my V1 three years ago, not one K false alarm since. X is 100% useless.
