Invited to test drive Ferrari
In the mailbox yesterday was an invite to come test drive a Ferrari through wine country and have a catered lunch. Sweet! Until I saw it's for my wife. Damn what a kick in the stones. So in two weeks she gets to test drive some sweet machines.

We have been trying to figure how she got an invite. We have not bought any cars from the company that owns the dealership. If she had to blow someone to get a trest drive I am hoping she will do it again so I can get behind the wheel.

So Saturday was the day. Wife and I head out to the resort where the event was hosted. As we pull up we see 4 Ferrari California cars backed in looking good. We get checked in and our host give us a head to toe run down on the car. Personally I am not a fan of the California. Seems too soft for a Ferrari. Definately geared to females and an older demagraphic. Prices range from $199k for the base model to $278k for the car we drove. Our host asks my wife if she is ready. Has her get in the passenger seat. We are both thinking WTF we want to drive. So he takes her out and shows her the ins and outs on how everything works. Then they come back and switch seats. They she gets behind the wheel and off they go. About 30 mins later they come back and she has a huge grin. Now I wasn't supposed to get a chance to drive since the invite was addressed to her. Our host says to get in and off we go. Keep in mind that we are in Oregon wine country where the roads are very twisty and many hills. He is running pretty hard. Breaking the tire loose, stepping the back out, etc. I am loving it. So he gives the run down while driving then we change seats. This car was dripping in carbon from the steering wheel with built in shift lights to the carbon racing seats. I adjust the seat and mirrors and we head out. I start out pretty mellow to get the feel of it. Then he says when I get comfortable to go ahead and get on it. So at the next stop sign I launch it pretty hard and run the first three gears up to 7500 rpm's then ease off and short shift into 5th. Approach a tight left hander and quickly bump in down to 2nd and hit it hard coming out and run it up to 4th. The host is telling me that's more like it, these cars love that. Keep after it. So for the next 30 minutes it was much of the same. Had a fantastic time. At the end they gave us the "brochure" for the car which was a hardbound book. Turns out te invites were put out by Ferrari North America and the cars were supplied by them as well. Thank you Ferrari N/A for an incredible opportunity.
