I live in Sacramento and she lives in San Francisco. W/ no traffic and "speeding" she is 1hr 15 min away. Average takes 2.5 hours with traffic to drive 103 miles one way counting toll traffic. We talk and text all the time. Try to see each other 1-3 times a week. Possible not to see her for two weeks at a time.

She has also driven up to visit me twice in the month's time I have known her.

Knowing her a month is not a relationship.

Survivable distance is correlated with the strength of your relationship.

It's awful. Don't do it. Of my 6 years married I have been gone for over 3 years of it. My marriage is terrible now. Everyone is different, but we grew apart for sure, and now there is nothing left; take that as you will.

It can work out, but really hard to do it. I know I absolutely cannot do it; distance does not make my heart fonder.

Had a long distance relationship for 5 years (700 km distance). It has good and bad sides (she didn't even have internet so it was only phonecalls/snail mail and so on). Sometimes it was damn hard. But I trusted her and she trusted me.

After 5 years we moved together. After the next 4 years we got married. We are married for a year now.

a friend of mine was with his girlfriend for 3 years long distance. (in which he cheated) but when she returned they lasted together 3 months..


the thing is how well you know her. long distance is not hard, a few phone calls here and there, then when you meet its all good because you havent seen each other for a long time.. the true test is when you are eventually together all the time and there is a chance to not like it.. so why invest? its a risk, take it or leave it..
