Random unexplained power loss?!?

was doing some spirited driving and got a SES light and smelled a burning smell, some vibrations under acceleration and then the SES light went out and the vibrations stopped and there werent any codes.. but the power wasnt back almost like the boost is half of what it was.. Took the car in to BMW explained it to them they replaced the MAP sensor said it was reading bad. Yet the car is still running not 100% like a noticable power loss.. Any explinations or has anyone had a simmilar issue?

you probably got a miss fire, what kinda power loss? limp mode would give you reduced power. or they fixed it and reflashed it with a new dme software, some say its slower.

its not in limp mode.. and i have had missfires it wasnt a misfire plus that would leave a code... I have JB4 so im not worried about new DME software.

1: Your positive you dont have auto clearing on?

2: Has the problem since gone away?

auto clearing is off.. and the SES light went out as soon as the vibrations stopped.. since that moment however there has been a deff power loss, not like limp mode power loss but the turbos arent spooling as loud and just seems sluggish.. sad really.

How many miles ? Could be your spark plugs need to be changed or an injector on its way out. What cylinder was misfiring ? I would check there first.

Sounds like it could be a possible boost leak. Do a log and send it to terry and/or post it up here.

And good idea on the log ill do one today n send it to terry asap

It could be a lot of things, and I have gotten misfires before without any code. The "clearing up" sounds like it could have cleared the codes and reset the ECU and cleared up.
