Driving Violation Ticket in B.C
Hi, I just got ticketed for 3 counts: Disobey Stop Sign 186(a), Speed Against Highway Sign 146(3), Drive Contrary To Restrictions 25(15). The ticket is $472 and I can pay within 30 days to get $25 dollar off each count. The cop said to me that I should try to dispute and that he will be there. Should I really dispute? This is my second time I got a ticket and the first time I got ticketed for speeding, failing to display N sign and carrying too many people. If I pay this ticket, does this mean I'll lose my license? If I dispute what are the chances that I'll win? If I win do I get this written off my record meaning I get to keep my license? I got my first ticket in April and I've paid that already and I have yet to recieve a suspension letter so I am guessing I am off but now this. I really need you guys' advices, thanks.

If the cop shows up in court then your chance of dropping charges will be almost impossible, however, at least you can keep your license for at least 6 more months. In the past, cops won't get pay or day off if they show up in court but now is completely different story.
go to www.revscene.net to get advise from cops http://www.revscene.net/forums/forum...hp?forumid=143

I think the cop wants you to hire a "Traffic Consultant".
The "Traffic Consultant" will then 'subsidize' the cop for his inconvenience for going to court and reduce your fine or charges by not showing up. If you want the charges dismissed or reduce significantly, you may have to spend over $1,000 to hire the right "Traffic Consultant" to negotiate for you. I have no respect for cops in Canada anymore. The corruption here is worst than HK nowadays. It is very similar to the '66 era in HK, except making a living here is not as difficult.

You should review each violation in the vehicle code book for BC.
Googled it for you and it came up immediately: http://www.qp.gov.bc.ca/statreg/stat/M/96318_00.htm Figure out if you have a case or not...fighting tickets is very easy to do if you have the info to present to a judge. Many officers give out tickets even though the law may have some flexibility in it. They just bet that you won't do the research and present it to the judge. Example: In California, a posted speed limit sign is ONLY the suggested speed, and not the definitive speed that you can drive (based on traffic, weather, etc.). Tailgating is even subject to the driver's discretion as well... Hope it works out for you! |

you wont get anything suspended, so stop worrying so much... i been through SO many tickets you wont believe, and my driving record is perfect (knock on wood)... just find a good lawyer, pay him $200-300 and i can bet you ANY money, half of all the charges will be gone... your lawyer will negociate with the judge even before they will call you up in court... if you find a good lawyer(like mine) he can even take off everything... just dont get lawyer from cops and those types of places, find a good private lawyer... i dont know how they do it, but mine took care of like 8-10 tickets already (I lost count) ... NEVER PAY your ticket unless you're a sucker

There are many important factors to be considered than just police corruption when deciding where to live, but the current RCMP system is broken and it needs to be fixed. I am glad the current federal government has the "balls" to do something about this. P.S. Mind you, I did leave Canada twice to work overseas for more $$$. I am just here now because this is currently a place where I can make $$$.

After all, we are the tax payers who pay their salaries. I am not sure how many "Traffic Consultants" you folks have in Calgary and Edmonton, but they (usually ex-cops, how convenient), along with "some" RCMP officers, are making a mockery out of the judicial system here in Ontario.
