True on that literacy statement. Students from China have a better grasp of the English language than the majority of American students.

Enjoyed this one a lot. Not a Game of Thrones by any means, but definitely a solid show that kept me entertained. HBO has been doing a great job with their shows.

I know you meant it as a joke and it was funny. Unfortunately it is my opinion that your example is going to be the downfall of this country. It is well on its way to being a shell of its former self.

Its more from experience. 1- I work at the Four Seaons Silicon Valley which is 15 minutes away from Stanford and we get alot of international students from China and Asia. The way they speak and carry themselves puts American students to shame. Not only students from China but students from South America and Europe. 2nd-When i went to Hangzhou to help open the new Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake, the Chinese trainees there knew how to properly use terms like "They, their, they're" unlike the American trainers- mind you these are people went to top hospitality schools like San Jose State and Cornell University. Maybe us Americans are just lazy?

While I agree with the fact that we aren't quite as great as we used to be, we still are the "best" country in the world.
If not us, then who? And education doesn't make/keep a country from being the "Best" in my book.. Albeit our education system is broke on many levels. |

How can you tell if your male roommate is gay ?
Easy. His dick tastes like shit. Sorry for the thread hijack, I couldn't resist. When I read your comment above, I was reminded of that joke, which made beer shoot out my nose the first time I heard it. If you dont have the same response, try adding more beer. |

Granted, the US probably isn't the best in any one category (other than, say, leisure, since the diversity of accessible leisure activities here in the US is pretty much better than anywhere else in the world ... hence Jeff Bridges' "Yosemite" comment is pretty accurate), I'd say overall the US is probably one of the best (if not "the best") place to live. The simple indiciative questions to be answered are:
1) If you currently live in the US, is there anywhere else you'd rather live (assuming (a) you had the same net worth you have now, so you have to take into consideration what your $ could buy you elsewhere, (b) there was zero relocation costs, (c) if you have a family, you had to bring them with you, so you had to take their interests into consideration as well, (d) there was no language barrier, and (e) you had the identical employment/student situation you were in now)? [Personally, the only place I could consider would be Australia] 2) If you don't currently live in the US, would you move to the US (given the same assumptions as above)?
