Summer Travel

It's summer and I feel like I need to get away for a week or so. Can you guys recommend a good destination? I was thinking of going back to Jamaica for a week but would be willing to try another country.

I really want to do Europe for a week or two but I think that would be too expensive for me.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Haha that's a thought. I've always wanted to visit Yellowstone. I might have to look into that.

Mexico west coast has great destinations... Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco... All beautiful and fun, not as crazy as Cancun from what I hear. I have been to the three I mentioned but not Cancun.

Hawaii is also awesome to get away but I'm not sure it's much cheaper than going to Europe. If you do consider it, the big island is awesome with black sand beaches, Kona, the volcano, lots to see.

You didn't mention the type of vacationing you like to do so it's hard to recommend.

I can say I did a photography trip to Iceland, rented a Rav4 and drove around the entire country on the ring road as they call it, and just camped out and took in some of the most beautiful scenery and photography in the world. Then stayed a few nights in Reykjavik to get a handle on civilization! Did this in about 10 days total. It's cold though so its not many people's idea of a vacation

Turks & Caicos is gorgeous and fun, Hawaii is amazing on almost every level, I hated Cabo, Antigua is nice, Italy is amazing... it really depends on what you want to do. Just sipping drinks on the beach would be Grace Bay in Turks & Caicos, Lots of activities would be Hawaii. YMMV

I wouldn't mind going to Iceland. But that's probably another trip. I went to the Big Island last year and went all over the place. It was nice but a little bit too spread out for me. I've been to Oahu twice before so the Big Island was a bit different. I just want to relax, enjoy the scenery, eat good food, and just mainly sight see.

I was planning on going to Hawaii but at this time of year it's too expensive. I figured that it would cost at least $3000-4000 for 2 people for a week. That's if we're conservative.

Depending on 'the bay' you are around, it's hard to go wrong with Tahoe, I'll be spending quite a bit of time up there myself

hawaii..specifically the island of oahu...big island, maui, kauai are all fine and dandy if you just wanna go to beaches and sit on a beach chair all day but there isnt crap to do at night there. Oahu has beautiful beaches and still has nightlife and shopping...its the best island...you wont get bored youll atleast have something diffferent to do everyday and night

1. Pick a budget
2. Choose a type of vacation (beach, mountains, exotic, city, etc.)

I wouldn't go back to a Caribbean island twice, but that's just me. I'm going to Curacao in August.

My brother and I visited 3 islands over 2 weeks for about $2000 each in August 2010 including airfare from Newark, NJ

Oahu is my least favorite Hawaiian island because it's commercialized. Kauai and Maui are "real" Hawaii IMO and offer a wide range of things to do while still feeling like you're in Hawaii, not a commercialized beach/resort destination.

I rented private condos for like $60-80/day which were amazing.
