Am i the only one who is a little upset with the 135. Fine our 335i looks a little better. But the thing is the market for these cars are a bunch of 18-21 year old kids, who are just gonna race at every light and blow the doors off our 335i.
Does this make any sence for bmw to do this?? I mean the market is definatly there, but its taking some sales out of the 335i. Usually the higher the price of the car the more bmw makes on its sale, so why put a car with more performance then the 3 series for less money??? |

to piss 335 owners off, judging by your response, I'd say BMW is doing a mighty fine job

Nice find... ^^Your right, why would they put the same engine in that car that will most likely beat a 335i? Unless the tranny has different gearing and the engine is not fully tuned for maximum performance... that would make a little sense.

guys, 1 and 3 series are geared towards different demographics, akin to a golf vs Jetta, golf more boy racer, Jetta more grown up. BMW wants the younger buyers that it anticipates 1 series will attract to start young and stay with the brand, i.e. move from 1 series to 3 to 5 to 7 as they progress in life. It's a smart move. That ends my diplomatic answer.
My real answer: stop being all butt hurt about the 135 beating your 335, boohoo, cry me a river, do you see the 535 owners crying over your 335?

Yeah but 5 and 3 series are different cars where 3 and 1 series are essentially the same car, maybe I should say same engine in a different body. Although I don't really care because 3 coupe still looks better but it kind of pisses me off that they would put the same engine in 1 series.

this argument is so silly and petty. 128=328=528 engine-wise, 135=335=535 engine-wise. I'll say this again, I hope next time a 535 driver sees you on the road, he'll laugh and snicker at you for owning a lesser car but with the same engine found in his 535i, ridiculous? yes, but so is your argument that 1 series should not get the twin turbo'd I6

we should have a sub-forum titled: "335 owners who are insecure, and are pissed that 135s are coming"
I'm sure it's only a very small percentage of 335 owners, but the ones that are constantly bashing the 1 series for having the TT I6 engine are sounding like broken records

yea and another one for those who have a 330i and they wish they had a 335i. Its just my opinion. I was just trying to get some answers. But i guess "bashing" is just alot easier then giving an actual answer with some stats behind it. I just asked if it was smart move by BMW. I have nothing against the 135i or 128i.

The 1er excites me... I'll check them out as soon as they're available in the states and if I like it enough, I'll lease it for 2 years like I did my 3er. I think it's a fantastic little car and opinions might change as soon as they're seen in person.

im not jealous or anything since i dont even have a 335, but its jsut an accident waiting to happen when you advertise a 300hp TT vehicle to kids in highs chool and just getting out of high school....most high school kids here drive a civic or a GTi and think they are in Nascar.

Nothing special about our cars now, just another dime a dozen car. Fucking pisses me off. Why not just sell the M3 for 35,000? Or lets make a really nice large car with everything the 7 and call it the 4, charge everyone 50,000 bet the 7- series owners would love that one. |

I think you wrong, i can see this car being priced at around 28-32k. which puts it in evolution and sti price range. And the 328 at around 22-26k. But then again this is just an educated guess.

28-32k for the 135? I highly doubt it will go that low. Even then, how many STI and Lancer Evo IX's do you see? I see them around, but they're hardly dime-a-dozen cars... 30k isn't chump change when sinking it into a car.

I'm just telling it like it is, if you look at all the 1 series thread, there's always a few 335 owners that piss on the 135 just because it's a 1 series. If you aruge that you hate the 1 series because it looks ugly, or because it's too small for you, whatever, that's fine. But to simply say that you hate it for the simple fact that you feel the 1 series should't have the same engine as your 335 because it's a lesser, entry level model, that's just plain ignorant.
