When you see a driver texting...what do you do?
Far too often I see drivers texting when on the highway, major roads, stoplights, etc.
What do you do? |

Pass as quickly as possible. I text at stop lights, but put the phone down as soon as traffic starts moving again.

I rarely see anyone texting while driving... I'm too busy texting and driving.

I always want to swerve ever so slightly into their lane or if they were in front of me doing 50 in a 70, I want to get in front of them and brake check'em. I don't since it could cause an accident or perhaps get me shot.

Im guilty of texting at a red light. I put my phone down as soon as the light goes green and wont pick it up again until I come to another stop light or my destination. A lot of times I use it as a crutch. Being a girl, I have people that will stare at my car or me at a red light when I have my windows down and its a really uncomfortable feeling so I'll pick up my phone that way they dont try to talk to me.

+1. I will admit that once while at a stop light I got honked at after the light turned green.

I wonder how that pick up line would go: "So, do you stop at red lights often?"
Edit: To contribute an answer to the OP in the thread, I don't do anything special when I see someone texting and driving. However I do always watch out for any driver that looks oblivious to their surroundings, watch them for a bit to make sure they won't do anything erratic, and then pass as quickly as possible and get away from them. Also here in South Florida while texting and driving is most definitely a concern, I get real nervous when I see old people driving and we're anywhere near a cafe. Anyone who's driven down here, especially in Boca, knows exactly what I am talking about. People used to ask me which drivers are worse, Florida or California. My take is that while both are extremely bad (enthusiasts notwithstanding of course), for the most part the guy that just cut you off in Cali was being a (fill in the blank here) and fully knew what he was doing, while the dude that almost killed you in Florida probably has no idea he almost did that... scary! Since its not illegal in texas you can't really do much. I just become aware of them and try to pass or stay behind.

It's just ridiculous when someone can barely stay in their own lane on a highway yet continues texting. It baffles me that people can be so selfish. They should be taken off the road, one way or another.

Stoplights usually nothing. Sure, they may miss the green light and get a honk from someone behind them, but they arent hurting anyone if they aren't moving. But if someone is driving while txting or holding their phone to their ear, I will usually just try and stay clear of them, I won't really say anything...

I don't do anything unless their driving like a jack hole. If you can walk and chew gum at the same time then WTF do I care?
I text at red lights because guess what? I'm not driving. I'm stopped. Haven't missed a green because of it yet. I ocassionally text while driving too but hey.. I'm one of those people that can walk and chew gum at the same time. Usually I pull over if it's not just a quicky response however. And I drive a 6MT |
