In Praise of the Front License Plate Mount
Some states don't require their drivers to mount a front license plate and no doubt, their front ends are as attractive as they were designed to be. For us other slobs, our states mandate that a license plate be affixed to the front bumper. Some choose to mount the plate, others choose not to... but this thread is not about that.
Yesterday, while removing my golf clubs from it's place in front of my E92 parked in my garage, I failed to notice that something was leaning against my golf bag. Upon moving the golf bag, the aforementioned object fell against the front bumper. After reciting the proverbial "oh sh!t/oh fu*k", I noticed that the perpetrator had not fallen against my bumper, but the front license plate mount. It left a small nick in the mount and if not for that mount, there would have been the first self-inflicted wound on my E92. The morale of this story is "don't bit*h and moan over something that should be legally there". One day, when you least expect it, it just might become your best friend.

Unless you get tapped in the rear by a car with comparably stout front plate mount. I still have the indentations to remind me, I will need to replace the rear bumper soon

Well, I don't have a dog and when I take my fish for a walk, they just seem to get out of breath quickly.

man, if it wasn't for the front license plate and the frame itself, i would have the biggest dent in my car from someone backing up into me @ the parking lot.
the license plate and the frame had damage. cracked frame. bent and cracked outer frame. bent license plate. i thank god for the front license plate rule |

My front plate has saved me from a few parallel parking incidents. My plate has a Weathertech cover, which even protected my plate from an unsightly dent.

With my front plate combined with my Easypass transponder attached to the front tag, I have this nice 3" cushion to push cows or something, out of my way...

Since they are covered by a not really unattractive frame that's required by law, I am not concerned. It's just a license plate...

On topic, good way to find something good about front plates. Personally I would have rather had te knick then a front plate.

Quite possible the most poignant story I've ever heard. Was it just me, or did anyone else start to well up a little bit?
Steve - glad to hear you were saved by the plate! There is no worse feeling than a self-inflicted wound to your car. Well, maybe an alien anal probe... at first.... then it's not so bad.
