Does anyone have a shop or can recommend a dealer where to get Walnut Shell Blasting done for the N54 in Miami.

DONE....Valves Clean

Just a quick update.
had my intake valves Walnut Shell Blasted by LivnLife31 today.

at 53k miles, they were filthy.
see pics.
superb job. now they are super clean, highly recommended.

i will repost in local thread and let Mark elaborate and upload the clean pics. super happy. A+ to mark and his sidekick.

Update

just a few lessons learned. turn the tune off (if you have one) before restarting the car after the cleaning. it will idle rough...no worries, turn it off, wait a min, turn it on again. may have to repeat. take a short cruise and smile.

after 30 miles, turn the tune on again.

Here are a couple of pics of the intake cleaning. This was an 2007 E92 FBO with 53k miles. This car really needed the cleaning and I'm sure Neil is pleased with the way his car revs. Send me a PM if interested!

Hey Mark, I was wondering when you come back from vacation? Second, I just bought some new mods(AA fmic, AR DPs, Forge DVs, BMS intake installed already). Is it easier to do the cleaning before I put those mods on or it doesn't matter. Thanks.

Is that a ceramic "extension" for your grit blaster?

Yes, it is an extension-it's aluminum. I had to fabricate to get further into valves.

Ah ok. Couldn't tell material from the pic. I did the same thing with a preform copper tube I had laying around. I wasn't sure if there was an off the shelf extension. That blaster works decently, requires a damn large compressor though.

its one of those things like getting your teeth cleaned regularly, takes a while but prob hard to reverse the damage long term.

#1, he's been banned. #2, I'm pretty sure most stealerships offer this type of service now. BUT, If you're dead set on doing it while in Miami, you could contact the boffins at Active Autowerke and see if they can do it for ya. http://www.activeautowerke.com/contact.php

It's not that hard I did it myself in my garage for a few hundred in parts. I didn't take to many after pics but here is a before and after. I still had to use a wire brush and clean the black edge. Car had 68k when I cleaned it. I don't believe its ever been cleaned before this. Its not that hard of a job, it took me about 6 hours total. It's just mostly remembering where everything goes lol.

I used this DIY (PDF Attached).

I highly suggest doing it yourself if you have an air compressor, or pay buy a small 2hp one. This way you can do it again every 20k saving $800 each time if your dealer charges that much. I know some do near me.

edit: Just noticed this thread is old lol
