Squealing noise with engine revs-- Opinions

Hey guys,

I need your help on this irritating noise I've been getting the past few days.

If listen carefully you can hear a squealing noise that tracks engine revs.

Any ideas on what that could be? I can also hear a weird plastic rattling noise on idle (not the injecors), but that would be hard to capture on my phone...

Feedback is appreciated

I'm at work so I can't watch the video right now, but I can advise you find a mechanics stethoscope. They work magic when trying to hunt down noises.

Its not wastegate rattle... it even says in the name rattle and what he is talking about is a squeal. Have you had any work done in the engine compartment lately? My thought would be loose serpentine belt. IF it is that, then tighten the components and/or buy some serpentine belt spray. The spray makes the belt have better friction with the parts.

If you think that's a belt that's epic.
It's metal rattling. Could be a heat shield but probably a wastegate.
Maybe a vacuum canister is going.

Point is there are a hundred real things it could be (not a belt tho LoL)

Bring it to a person in real life. The internet is not the place to diagnose noises recorded on cell phones.

You can't fix it even with the turbos "down"
It's a design flaw.
Youll need to have the wastegate flap modified or new aftermarket turbos.

I dont know what your hearing but Im hearing the squealing that he is talking about. If there is rattle then it could be turbos, but im talking about the squeal.

Yes I hear the squeal. If your implying somehow that there is a idle pulley failure or a lack or tension in the belt than the noise would sound like a belt squealing not metal.
-.-

Thanks for the replies guys...

I do have wastegate rattle but that is not the noise I'm talking about. Focus on high frequency noise and you'll hear the squealing. It directly follows engine RPMs.

The internet is definitely not the right place to diagnose, but I always like to keep other people's experiences in mind when I visit a mechanic shop.

My water pump was changed recently (a week ago), may be that has something to do with it.

The fact that it tracks the RPM leads me to think it has to do with the belt.

Any luck? Did you tighten belts? Spray silicone lube on it? I have same problem now, gonna try the belt tighten and silicone spray, check my pulleys and top off my power steering reservoir.
