How long will the pads last after triggering sensor?

Just travelled up to Aberdeen and my rear sensor has been triggered.

It was showing 4700 this morning and the fronts were 13,000 and they have slumped to 5000.

I've been waiting for them to go for a bit to replace them but I'm up in Aberdeen where I don't have facilities to change them over.

Will I get a few miles before I end up with the pads grinding into the discs?

I will need to order up new pads and discs all round.

these sensors don't 'trigger' like the old type, they wear gradually and give a variable signal to the ecu, so it knows as the pads wear right from way back.

in theory if it says 5000 miles then its 5000 miles if you drive consistently.

It went from 4700 this morning where it had stayed for weeks to needing changed.

I wasn't even driving fast tonight. Just a calm 140 mile journey.

Just went back out in the car and it has reset itself and gone back to 4700 miles.

How odd.

Garage List
As someone else has said you'll get a bit more mileage out of them yet.

If your planning on doing the job yourself I'll happily lend a hand as I replaced my disks and pads all round not so long ago and I've got all the necessary tools. Only problem is I'm offshore at the moment and not home until the 9th of Aug.

Cheers for the offer.

I've not even given much thought what discs and pads I'm going to order yet.

When I'm in Aberdeen I'm either working or falling out the pubs at the weekend.

Probably be wise to do it down the road where all the tools are there.

It is odd how the readings can jump about, I think even when it says they need changing it probably is still giving you a month or so, as it does with service warnings.

Eurocarparts currently have a 31% discount offer, ends pretty soon from memory. I deliberated for ages about what pads to buy foy my X5, always like buying BMW original stuff as thats the way I am but in the end front and rear pads with sensors from dealer were £270 supply only and Pagid pads and sensors from Eurocarparts came in at £95 with the 31% discount. That kinda made the decision and they are sitting in my garage waiting to be fitted next weekend.
