Appropriate question after one night stand?
i was talking to a friend of mine about the appropriateness of asking a person after a one night stand if they've been tested for stds. what do you guys think? and before you guys go off about how you should've been responsible and talked about it beforehand, we're ignoring that part. sure, that would have been the ideal thing to do but sometimes things just happen, people get drunk and hook up, etc.
so is it ok to ask if they've been tested the next day? should you wait? should you just not ask at all and go get tested yourself? i can see how some people might be offended because it's like someone else is questioning your cleanliness therefore implying you're a whore, but on the other hand others might be glad that you're at least being somewhat responsible for your actions. thoughts? |

I was in Thailand and had some fun with a couple of locals. Bad mistake. Within a couple of days, my equipment got red and very irritated, with big spots on it, and it hurt like hell to pee.
I went to a local clinic, and I could barely understand his broken English, but he took a look at it and it sounded like he told me I'd have to have it cut off! Needless to say, I was concerned, so I went for a second opinion. I found a doctor in a nicer part of town whose English was a bit better. He took a good look at it, and furled his brow. "He doesnt look too good". "Well doc," I asked, "How bad is it? The last guy told me I'd have to have it cut off." He started to laugh, "Oh no, that's not necessary..." "Oh thank God" I replied with more than a bit of relief. "No, no", he continued, "I've see this before. You wait 2, maybe 3 weeks, and he will fall off all by himself". |

You don't ask the next day. Think about how awkward that would be. "Hey I boned you last night and I was wondering, do you have any STD's so I know if I should get checked or not?" I only see you getting punched in the face after that. Even taking someone home and asking "Are you clean?" pretty much guarantee's you aren't going to be banging that person. One night stands are pretty much the equivalent of Russian Roulette.

Whether you ask before or after the end results does not change, because if she is willing to do a one night stand what makes you think she would own up and say shes been tested and everything checked out OK. Well most likely she will say that no mater what she has crawling around. Or if you ask now and she was not impressed with you she could say oh yeah I forgot to tell you have herpes
Just go get your shots and medicine now and assume the worse and never do it again. |

Don't ask. Wait a month (the amount of time it takes to accurately reflect infection from any STD on a test if you have one) and get tested. Asking isn't going to change if have or haven't.
