Loaner
Hey guys, I got a 06 325i as a loaner. Just want to know if it was alright to fill it up with regular gas. I know that the car does not belong to me, but if it requires premium, then that's what I'll fill it up with. I know that my car requires premium. Just not sure about the 325i. And I'm too lazy to search. Just in case you guys felt like using this on me.

I think it does, but open the fuel door and look. It will say it there.

My car is at the BMW bodyshop and will be there for more than a week. My car was in an accident. And I need to drive this car for now.

to be honest, there are very high chances that the previous driver of that loaner did not fill up with premium.

It requires premium. And c'mon man, premium is like 20 cents more per gallon. Are you telling me you can't afford an extra $3.20 if you fill up 16 gallons?

I once saw on Mythbuster's, they added liquid drain cleaner to the gas tank and the engine still ran. I doubt that 87 octane will have an adverse effect.

Actually with $3.20, I can have a decent McDonald's meal with the dollar menu.

The dealership should have expected people don't fill premium gas. They must have done something on it

I hope they put disel in your car when you go in for service.. seriously people, dealer are not going to 'modify' the engine because they 'expect' ppl to put in cheap gas.. if the car has been getting premium, you'll get knocking when you put it on regular... after a few tanks the car 'may' adjust and retard the firing rate.. thus reducing performance.

1. yes of course it requires premium

I had a 328i as a loaner. I didn't think twice about filling it with premium, but I didn't make a big deal about trying to find a Shell station (93 octane versus 91 everywhere else), like I do with my own car.

Mythbuster's just called...they would like to know if your dog is available to shoot an episode next week.

I think you may be able to get away with 91 octane because that is what we use here in California.
