popping sound from exhaust

now i read the threads about something being wrong the valves and so on...However i start to hear the popping sound from the exhaust when i turn off my car or i have it idle rather than when i turn it on. Should i get this checked out? I dismissed it as something that happens during break-in but i got worried when i read the threads with people having similar symptoms

That might be the sound of unburnt fuel igniting in your exhaust.

I don't know what to make of it however.

When you turn off the car? Popping sound from the exhaust? That sounds like contraction of the parts when they cool down and is normal for any car.

sounds normal to me.... all cars with catalytic converters do it....
