Install the Bluetooth update at www.bmw.com/update?
Unpair and repair your phone? Make sure you're running the latest iOS? iOS 5 introduced tag info over Bluetooth (still no album art or library browsing though, even though iDrive supports the latter if the phone does) and iOS 6 will allow reading texts and email on the iDrive display the way BlackBerries do now. Not sure how I feel about that....

^^ This.
Once your phone is connected again via Bluetooth, go to CD/Multimedia in iDrive, then Bluetooth audio, scroll to your phone/bluetooth device, click 'Options' and select 'Configure Phone'. There, make sure 'Audio' is selected in addition to 'Telephone'. Hope that helps!

Hi all,
I am a new BMW owner and the issue of using my iPhone with the car for streaming audio is not working for me. I can use BT for incoming/outgoing calls using the phone no problem, but when it comes down to music streaming the dealer told me that I had to use this cable which has an od connector on one side, and two other connectors on the other: a USB one and an AUX and they said I'm supposed to plugin my phone to the armrest controls. This sounds all wrong to me. Any decent modern car has music streaming over BT. I'm sure I am doing something wrong. Can somebody help me? What can I try? |

Anibal, if your car was produced after March 2010 then a software update, as noted above in link, is required. My '09 was produced in Nov 2008 so I'm out of luck. It's a very nice feature for all the newer cars. You first must pair your phone via Bluetooth then follow instructions to share the connection with music to stream it. It's way better than the USB or AUX, or for that matter the $750 option to install in the glovebox.

For pre 2010 cars you can get dension 500s bt

It will stream . I don't see you any A2DP setup could sound better than USB since A2DP is suppose to be a lower bit rate than what you can get off a USB stick. |

Best to start your own thread and be specific about what does
and does not work and any error messages you may have. And is this car new to you ? Which head unit do you have ? Pro Radio or idrive/nav |

Playing music through Bluetooth
i know this thread is quite old but i haven't been able to find a solution to this issue yet.
i'm new to BMW with a 2013 320i M-Sport, phone calls works perfectly but music not at all. I Went into the bluetooth device configure menu as specified above but i only have the "telephone" box in nothing about audio, surely this is something a software update should fix? |

You have to have the right option and a combox and idrive
that has the right firmware and the option enabled. I think it might be 6vc not sure. |

I didnt think you can, i had to get a little wireless thing, but it and the power supply sit inside the armrest storage area and it works perfectly.
