What is up with all the DME Failure talk?

Guys, am I late to the party or something? I've been seeing some crazy threads about DME failures. Some say it's for a few months of '07's, other say some 10's... can someone get me up to speed on this issue? What does the TSB look like? I'd like to know if my car is on the crap list. And more importantly if I am, how to get the dealer to fix it, and do I have to remove my procede?

What yr is your car? My built date is 10/2007 and It crapped on me earlier this yr and was out of warranty. They replaced it under goodwill with no questions asked.

Believe it's a late '07. Are they actually replacing the ECU or just re-flashing it?

They replaced it including my injectors. Only explanation they gave me was it happen to the earlier models and it was a known problem. Within two days of them contacting BMWNA, they were giving the Green light to replace it free of charge under goodwill.

Everything I read about the dme going out had the same symptoms. Hitting full boost at around 6200rpm and then the car just starts shaking violently in some cases and continues even after restarting and changing of plugs and coils.

It hits full boost and the loud bang and car stumbles because the injectors shut off and no longer running on all cylinders. The defective diodes I think control the fuel injectors. Mine is a 3/07 build and it's too close for comfort still

Bad news for me... Build date of 07/07. Good news is I'm still under my CPO warranty until Aug 31, 2013. Now for the question.... I'm guessing I have to remove my Procede tuner (what a waste of time!) and see if they will do it before the thing blows up. Any help getting this done? Anyone have the link or PDF of the bulletin?

I have a 3/07 build and a diode failed, dme crapped right out. My car was fbo, they didnt say a word, started a puma case and changed the dme.

My build date is also 07/07 and it's at dealership now and they diagnosed bad dme/ecu.
When my car started up, it would rev from 1k-2k up and down itself continuously, very odd..... Anyways after reading this thread I think I may ask/get injectors now
(CPO warranty)

Ask the dealer if they can do a carbon cleaning for you. Sounds like your valves need to be clean since you're still under warranty. Reason why your rpm keeps revving up and down by itself.

^ guys, if the DME doesn't fail, and I get it replaced, the injectors should be fine right? I think everyone is getting injectors replaced once it fails it takes some injectors out with it electronically, correct?

This can also happen if DME was reset in the wrong order. If using procede's control panel go from the top to the bottom for proper reset order, the reverse will result in 1-2 RPM idle rev and other assorted problems.

that's the problem. You need a procede so you can properly reset the deals.
