Seven years have gone by since Katrina hit New Orleans. If New Orleans hasn't learned anything since then and is not prepared for another hurricane, sorry, but maybe Isaac should flatten it to the ground.

Hopefully it'll make a turn and not hit NOLA too hard.

Lets hope he doesn't sit in the gulf and build strength. As of now it should make land fall just barely a Cat 1. Hopefully it'll stay that way or weaken.

I hope it will bypass you or slows down by the time it gets there. Hope you and your family be safe.

Pretty much done with it down here in South Florida. Just the usual heavy rain and some strong gusts, nothing too major. Rains here are gonna continue until tomorrow.

Good luck and stay safe! I hear it might go into NOLA as a Category 2. That's what the 11PM report said atleast.

When the projections first came out they had Isaac going directly over Tampa so I picked up tons of shit early. Now it's going west so I'll only be getting the outer bands from the looks of it. Even if the initial projections stayed true, I wouldn't be going anywhere. I'd put the car in the airport parking garage (no garage for all the cars ) and ride it out at home.

Stay safe out there LA

i see your point of view, i really do. i live in hurricane alley myself. was born and raised here with no intention to leave.

with that said, if i lived under sea level, you bet your ass id be the first one out.

just be safe. don't be stupid. being stupid in a storm gets you killed. i had to drain my pool three times yesterday. each of the 3 times i worried about getting smashed on the head by a palm frond. its difficult handing things as they occur.

I went through Hurricane Katrina. I was 17 when it hit and we didnt not evacuate. It was the single worst experience of my life. I am planing to move in January. Ive wanted to move since 2009 but I have horses and its not that easy to just up and leave.

again.. i understand/agree/know how it feels to go through a storm like that.

i went through andrew which was a direct hit. i remember that shit like it was yesterday.

my whole point was the below ground thing. its unfortunate because so many people live there, refuse to leave, and face risk of danger. you know just as well as i do that a TS/cat 1/2 will do more damage than a stronger storm because of the rain and subsequent flooding.

It feels like August 27, 2005 all over again... I hate that this thing is supposed to hit on the anniversary of Katrina.

it hit us on the anniversary of andrew.. its all a game with these storms.

granted it was nothing compared to andrew, things continue to change with each storm.

knock on wood i hope nothing as terrible as katrina ever happens to NO again, but i hope in the event that something does, people step up quicker to help

I think with Katrina we all had the superman mentality. "It's not going to happen to me" Those canes always turn at the last minute and hit the FL pan handle. We werent as prepared as we should have been. Now we think since we survived its like lightening. It wont strike us twice in the same spot. Until now, it may only be a Cat 2 but we are treating it like a cat 5 for fear of what happened 7 years ago. Better over prepared than sorry like we were in 2005.
