Gutting factory downpipes

If I was to gut the factory downpipes would it give me the same benefits as buying aftermarket catless downpipes?

My warranty is going to run out anyway...

Buy cat less ones
Gutting them would create so mich turbulence and really wouldnt flow as good as aftermarket ones

It wouldnt be as good as aftermarket but they would be better then being fully catted.

I'm sure he does lol.

OP, VRSF were selling for $319 just the other week so I'm sure that's a better solution.

I believe BMS is $329, but currently out of stock.

Shoot Tiago a pm I'm sure you won't regret it!

I'd like to see the dyno results from this. It'd be cool for it to look totally stock for an inspection. With how small our turbine outlet is I imagine that the factory pipe is large enough not to be the restricting point in the system if there was not a cat in the way.

I'm sure it's not idea but for the price (free) it'd be interesting to see. If you ever needed to go back there's always a few stock ones for sale for 150-200 bucks.

I'm sure somebody knows the answer to this but nobody is going to make money on it.

It would be hard to remove all the honeycomb material in the DP since there's a couple sharp curves in it. And you need to remove ALL of it or else it tends to crack, break off, then clog something else downstream in the exhaust system.

I don't want to stop a motivated individual from trying it, just be aware of the difficulties and possible consequences of getting it wrong. Overall, if it doesn't work right, you can still buy catless downpipes and all you've lost is maybe an afternoon of your time.

just get aftermarket dps. The stock ones are quite expensive , best is to keep them and put them back when you sell the car.

Thanks for the insight guys. I am just gonna wait and purchase after market downpipes. Seems that's the best solution.

I don't want to be the guinea pig! hahaha
