Couldn't look at the stock 16s any longer. Ordered a set of 18" Fastco Replika wheels (R108) that I thought were 162 replicas. Now I'm not sure if they are, or just similar in design. Do your 162 wheels look the same from these angles? I guess I usually only see those OEM wheels from a straight side point of view.
Before anyone mentions lowering, I don't think I'm going to bother. Just drove a 330 with sport and premium for 4 years, and got a little tired of the bumpy ride. I'm gonna see what it's like to drive with a little less road feel (and maybe a little more comfort). |

Those look really nice! How much did you get them for and how much for the rubber? Im really really sick of my 16 inchers too but I park and work in Scarborough and Im afraid if I get nice wheels they'll get jacked. Don't say it'll never happen cuz I had my RSX stolen from Scarborough Town Center. GAH!

Definitely looks better. 16s are awful looking, 18s definitely more sexy. As Spacedogg said the 162s curve inside to the centre (like a bowl). This looks good too. let us know the price. Enjoy.

I looked for OEM 162s, but no one seems to be selling them. Best I could see was from BMWWheels.com, and takeoffs were $300US each. Add the cost of rubber and the extras (customs, taxes, shipping), I just couldn't be bothered. I bought a set of M5 reps for my old 330, and I had no complaints. I'm a bit lazy, and also impatient. I want it when I want it.

Well, no wonder people always say replicas are crap quality. If you figure 4 tires at roughly $200 apiece, and you only want to pay $1200, that leaves $400 or $100 per rim. (Less actually, because of taxes and installing). Seems kinda low to me. Is that what people usually pay for reps, about $1200? My last set also cost me around $1700 (from Steelcase, 4 years ago), so I figured it was the norm.
Maybe Steelcase is too expensive? |

I knew somebody that has quoted replicas for MB and Audi/VW at lower than 200 ea. And they were in 17/18 inch varieties.
Blackandproud, I see that they are 18s (the sidewalls look tall to me for some reason though) What sort of tires do you have? Last edited by pokerface; 07-24-2007 at 09:22 AM.. Reason: addition |

If you guys wanna do a group buy for a better deal I'm in. $1800 is a bit steep though considering I searched a B/S/T and found some guy in Ottawa who is selling is 162's with Kumho rubber for $1500.

Agreed they look like 124s... they look nice though. I'd throw some rear spacers on, 12 or 15mm should do it..

The rubber is Nexxen N3000 235/40ZR18, if you are trying to get comparable quotes. I just waxed them up so the brake dust will come off easier, and I have to say, I love that I can fit my hand in between the spokes and clean the inner surface too. I don't know how you guys with wire mesh do it. I would go crazy trying to keep those things clean!
I am curious to see how much cheaper someone else manages to get these, because I'm a masochist and I love punishing myself. As long as it's an apples to apples quote. I live in a condo and don't really want to go down into P2 to mount my own wheels to save a few bucks, so let's see what price you can get with comparable tires, installed and balanced. And like I said before, I wanted the 162s but they are hard to come by. They get snapped up right away, and if it was shipping from Ottawa, I imagine that would add a few hundred bucks, no? I'm actually really happy with these, now that I'm looking at them. Less common on E90, and when I was waxing them, I was looking at the finish closely. Real nice. If you guys do a group buy, don't let too many people in! I don't want to see tons of cars with the same rims out there! |

Actually guys, thanks for putting that thought into my head about them being a little pricey. I remembered that I had initially ordered 245 tires for the rear, but then called in and changed my mind. When I paid, I was charged the same even though I decided to go 235 all around. So I called Steelcase and they are crediting me $160. Not a ton, but hey, better in my pocket, right?
So the package actually cost me $1640 installed. Work it down from there... |
