JB4 + RB Turbos -- 7.42 60-130

Hey guys,

Just a follow up to the 513rw dynochart posted last week as there was a lot of interest and good discussion in that thread. In the same trim as the dyno previously posted the car managed back to back 7.42 60-130 times which I think is a N54 twin turbo world record. There was also a couple 1/4 mile tests done launching part throttle in 2nd and the car managed back to back 130mph traps.

Nice times 60-130 times but with a 2.0 60' and a 130mph trap that should be in the low 11s and almost 10s, why only an 11.5?

Keep in mind BMS 135i weighs in around 3200 lbs without driver. That's 350-400 lbs less than a comparable E90/E92.

Regardless, they are impressive times.

Have to invest in driver weight reduction LOL

As for weight, I just double checked the numbers and it should be around 143# lighter than a 335 assuming all else is equal according to BMW. The car also has lighter rims, no cats, and the passenger seat out which all save some weight vs. an unmodified car. Then add back in 20# for the full 2.2G meth kit, 200# driver weight, etc.

Mike

Some good runs. That car is fast.
Looks like you found a favorable piece of road.

They went half throttle in 2nd gear to go easy on the trans. I would expect it to run high 10s @ 129-130 on a 1.6x 60' time.

That is a very mild street launch, feathering the throttle, and still solidly in the 11's. Reduce the 2.0 to a dragstrip 1.70 launch and you could be looking at a .60 sec reduction in the qtr mile. Additionally, that kind of launch where you are backing off the throttle usually does not equate to the best trap speed period. The 135i does not have aerodynamics in its favor. So 130mph back to back qtr mile runs with a .005 (.5%) slope is pretty strong!

Car already ran a 11.2x at the actual dragstrip with 60 less hp? 0-60 time of 3.0 seconds on stock turbos. So high 10's potential is a given now.

Any chance you will bring it to a real drag strip to see what it does? I would love to see another n54 in the 10's...

+1 would like to see an aggressive launch on a prepped track. It has the potential for high 10's definitely

You need to check again. 3373 135i 3593 335i. 220 lb difference. Plus 150 in wheels seat, etc so 400.

My porky 6AT E90 weighs in at 3605!

I weigh 180-185 depending on water retention and I think terry is right around there too.

According to BMW the 335 coupe auto is 143# heavier than the 135i auto. I think he's said the non-power passenger seat removed was 48# and compared to stock rims his are around 50# lighter. Not many many people race on stock rims. No idea on his weight but he has said removing the passenger seat gets his effective driver weight down to 160#. So I guess 210#?

Nice video and numbers. I always believe weight reduction to be better than adding hp, but maybe thats because its cheap!

Oh, i was just talking about the obvious things like removing the passenger/rear seats, insulation, sound system, AC, etc. Not that a lot of people do that to these cars though.

But when it comes to rims/cf body panels/light-weight BBKs, i completely agree that its serious $
