Stage 2+ blown chargepipe first pull. How?

Yesterday I went out to log for the first time since installing my Mr. 5 intake, VRSF 7" fmic & downpipes. As I roll into boost on my very first pull around 4K rpms I heard a popping sound and the car lost power. It took a minute before a code came up but eventually I saw a P30FF boost leak. The charge pipe blew off right at the clamp and broke. I haven't seen a stock charge pipe yet but is there supposed to be a metal ring or something that locks it in place to the throttle body? I can't seem to find any pieces to it and don't think they could have made their way into the intake. They are probably in the undertray somewhere.

In the second pic you can see the Mr 5 intake I bought. I'm surprised the flange blew off the intake box as it's not pressurized and it didn't happen between shifts. I'm just going to silicone it back on and bolt it.

I've seen so many stock cps break like that. Stage 2+ should just require an upgraded cp to begin with

I understand how the CP blew, but the intake I don't get.

Bad mechanic skills? I guess you are talking about whomever made the intake?

I'm thinking about picking up a CP where I can run the stock DV's until i need to upgrade to Forge or AWE.

I dont get why the intake did that either, maybe it was simply coincidental. However, I recommend the Evolution Racewerks Charge pipe. We got a handful in stock ready to ship to get back on the road. Hit me up.

The stock CP has a metal C clip. It likely fell into the black hole of that engine bay. I doubt it got sucked up that would be quite the feat.

What year is your car out of curiosity? Reason I ask is because I feel like when these threads come up, it almost always happens to the cars 09+ with the redesigned CP

Damn. Seems like a very common problem. I wonder if I broke my charge pipe too. Will have to check in the morning.

As far as the charge pipe is concerned its bound to happen sooner or later... Time for a Active Charge pipe and Bov

Same here.. and you'd better hope that nothing from it got sucked down into the turbos.

I don't want a loud noticeable car. I am thinking more along the lines of upgraded DV's.

From looking at the intake, the flange just popped off. It had some sort of a plastic glue holding it on. I have to bolt it on with some silicone. I am worried about the O-ring I hear of. I can't find that either and imagine it's possible that it could get sucked in. It's probably just paranoia.

I don't understand how the intake blew up like that, did it happen at the same time as the CP? Are you running meth or something? I would think some kind of backfire thru the intake tract but that makes no sense given the piping arrangement and location of IC/turbos.

Most likely just a poorly made intake.

Damn thats take alot of back pressure to blow both the chargepipe and the hose out of the intake unless the intake was put together with glue and cheaply done..
